Chaos (now Kona)

Chaos (now Kona)

Guess what? Today was my adoption day! That’s right ~ I was adopted today and here are some photos of me with my new dad Korey, my new mom Chelsea and my new sister Lucy! You can’t miss Lucy. She is sitting in my mom’s lap! Lucy knows how to sit like a lady, but you just wait… I will be up in my mom’s lap by the end of the week. I was so excited when my foster mom told me that I had a family. It took me just a few hours to get my things packed for my new life. Oh, and I also have a new name and that is Kona, like the town on the big island in Hawaii. I love my new name, my new family and my new life. When we get home, we are going to cook out on the grill to celebrate me joining the family. I love grilling out and tonight, I am going to have chicken and salmon. I love to eat, so this is my kind of family… a family that wanted to adopt me!

Tears fell like rain yesterday, when Chaos’ dad said goodbye. I must say I cried right along with him. When Chaos’ dad was 12 years old, he made a list of what he would get when he became an adult. The list was short: a house, a sports car and a Bulldog…. A Bulldog he would name Chaos.

But no matter how much we plan, somethings don’t always work out the way we want. He instead got a wife, a home, a baby and a Bulldog named Chaos. Chaos had his own bedroom, beds, toys, balls… everything he wanted. Then the baby came along and the room was painted for the baby. The dog beds and toys were moved out and baby things moved in. And Chaos moved to a crate. Full time. All day, every day, while his parents worked.

Chaos loves his crate, but what he loves the most is family time, sitting-in-a-lap time, sleeping-in-the-bed time. Chaos loves time and attention. And with a baby, Chaos received limited time. Chaos’ dad felt like they had become the people they hated. The people who once promised to love, take care of and be there for their Bulldog, yet were not following through on their promise.

They family realized Chaos deserved more than whatever time was left over at the end of the day. Chaos is a great Bulldog and deserves a great family… not a family exhausted with full-time jobs and an 8-month-old baby. He shouldn’t be confined to a crate all day, every day. Chaos joined rescue out of love. He was surrendered by a family that loved him enough to realize he deserved a better life with a family that can offer him more time.
