While wandering around town, I was not surprised when the local animal control officer picked me up and took me to the shelter. And I was not surprised when no one came looking for me. After all, I am a senior Bulldog, and not many people want a senior.
I also had my share of medical problems. I had never been neutered and my ears and eyes were infected. In addition to the scars all over my legs, I had some really big keratin deposits on my back. To me, they looked like big black warts. I get up kind of slow and I have arthritis. I had an ear hematoma that was never taken care of and now it’s old and the cartilage has changed, so I will always have one fat ear.
At the shelter, I watched lots of young dogs come and go. I remembered back when I was a young Bulldog and someone promised to love me forever. My “forever” was only until I got old, apparently, and that made me sad.
Little did I know that Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue had tagged me while I was in the shelter, so when my stray hold was up, I was picked up and taken to Dr. Larsen’s for immediate vet care.
When I sat in Dr. Larsen’s lap, she told me everything she was going to do for me. She also told me someone had called her to ask her about me. I thought, “Me? The old Bulldog? She must be mistaken.”
Dr. Larsen said Jennifer had seen me at the shelter. She had sat in my kennel with me and had fallen in love.
So, the rest is history! Fast forward to today: look at me with Jennifer and my new family. That’s right, I found a family! My family loves me and I’m now the luckiest Bulldog in the world.
Here’s my new family photo: left to right is Thomas with Daisy, Jennifer with Otis, Reese with ME and my new skin brother, Hill. Hill doesn’t have a Bulldog with him, but I think he will soon.
I was known as stray dog A1111731. But when I joined rescue today, they said I could pick any name I wanted. Being December, I picked the name of my hero of the best Christmas movie ever—Clark. You know as in Griswold in the Christmas Vacation movie. Hey, Clark sounds better than Cousin Eddie!
