Jodee

Jodee

Today was the day Jodee has been waiting for… Jodee has been adopted!!!!

Jodee has spent the last few months in her foster home preparing for her furever family. While in Rescue, Jodee has had several tumors removed, put on about 15lbs, and even went through heartworm treatment. Jodee has come such a long way, and we are so proud of her for everything she has overcome. What an incredible day for Jodee and her new furever family!

I have so much to be thankful for this week. But most of all I am thankful to be safe and in rescue. Thank you to everyone who makes rescue possible!

I am about 4 years old, but my body looks like I am at least twice that. I have had a hard life and a few babies. I was found wandering the streets and nearly starved. It was not the kind of diet you would want.

Both of my ears are infected, as is my tail. My nails have not been trimmed in forever. I have several small growths all over my skin. But worst of all are the the large (2-3 inch) tumors I have. One is on my hip and one hangs down from my belly. Dr. Larsen said they should be easy to remove and not cause any long-term problems. She did say I had a slight heart murmur that could be caused by some nasty worms. They will do lab work and other tests after I rest a few days.

I enjoyed my first Thanksgiving in rescue. Like most of you, I’m still eating all I can! I will get the full holiday spa treatment and then get all fixed up. Then, I’ll be ready for foster family and eventually, my furever family. I know they are out there, just waiting to be matched with a super-friendly gal like me.

12/15/19 Update:  Good tidings to all! I’m really enjoying Christmas time this year. I didn’t even know what it was until I came into rescue. I’ve been through a lot since I arrived, but I’m in a much better place now.

I was found starving on the streets and I had tumors all over me. I had two that were really large. One was on my back leg and one was on my undercarriage. Dr. Larsen was real worried about them, so she surgically removed them and sent them off to be tested. And guess what? The results show NO CANCER! Isn’t that GREAT?

I don’t know how I ended up wandering the streets alone, but I’m sure glad rescue found me. Now, I get to eat all the time. They tell me they’re fattening me up to be the strong, beautiful Bulldog I was supposed to be. That’s OK with me. I went without food for so long, I’ll eat all they give me.

I’m such a sweet and good girl, but I went without people being nice to me for a long time. Now, I just melt when they stroke my head or rub my ears.I was just a skinny, tumor-laden dog who was lost on the streets… no one cared to look at me, let alone help. In rescue, I learned there are still good people in the world who will love you no matter what you look like.

I dressed up for my Christmas photos the other day. I felt pretty for the first time in a long time. Everyone was so nice to me. They told me what a pretty and sweet girl I am. They rubbed my ears and scratched my butt. I didn’t want it to end. Then they told me they would be back next week to do it again. I can’t wait!

I am about 4 years old and I know… my body doesn’t look it. Those four years have been hard, up until now. My scars will heal, I’m going to put on all the weight I need and I’m going to be BEAUTIFUL AGAIN!

I would love someone to see me for the Bulldog I am, not look through me like the people on the street did. I want a family to take care of me this time! Be good to me and let me eat all I want.

Hoping your stockings are stuffed full this year. I know mine will be!

12/31/19 Update:   Jodee is having a blast in her foster home. This sweet energetic girl is working on putting on a few pounds before starting her heartworm treatment, and just wanted to wish everyone a happy new year!

1/27/20 Update:  Jodee was exhausted after a long day of playing, so she asked politely to get up on the couch… where she promptly fell asleep.

2/2/20 Update: While we’re watching the Super Bowl, Jodee is asking us to share our snacks with her butt straight up in the air. And yes, that is all one dog you’re seeing.

3/30/20 Update:  FREEDOM! After 30 long days of crate rest from heartworm treatment, Jodee is free! Jodee is so much fun to have around the house. She is a goofy, high-energy dog that simply wants to be with her people. Jodee will be: your best friend, your assistant, and your shadow. She gets so excited over the smallest things.

Are you going to the kitchen to grab a snack? So is she! Are you going outside to watch the sunset? So is she! Are you getting up to use the restroom? She will be right there with you if you need her. Wondering where Jodee ran off to? She’s right behind you! Needless to say, Jodee’s favorite activity is being with her people, doing whatever they are doing. She also enjoys belly rubs, breakfast, dinner, and napping on a good lap.

Jodee gets along well with other dogs, and for the most part, is house trained as long as she doesn’t have to wait to go outside. Maybe Jodee will be the right dog for you and your family!
