My name is Nakita and today I joined rescue. Two years ago my owners moved to a place where I could not live, so they gave me to some friends. For the past year I have had terrible allergy problems and have bumps and bare spots all over my body. My new family tried their best, but they realized I needed to be with people who knew all about bulldogs and their special needs. And I needed people who could better afford to get me all the best vet care I deserved.
I am about 8 years old, but I don’t act like it. I still like to do my happy dance when I get excited. I can move around pretty fast too. But my skin really bothers me and I need some other work done. Everyone tells me how sweet I am and they brag about how well I get along with other dogs. I was glad the man said he liked his girls to be chunky. I weigh 58 pounds and I was afraid there might want to take a little off the sides!
So I am showing Dr. Larsen and everyone at the clinic how I spin around and do my happy dance. I can’t wait to do my very special happy dance for my new, forever family!
1/2/20 Update: Sadly we have found out that Nakita tested positive for heart worms and will receive treatment.
1/15/20 Update: Nakita is about 8 years old and weighs 58 lbs. She’s a lot like me. We’re past middle age and far from elderly. We’re in those sweet years and a little plump. Everyone refers to us as SENIORS. We don’t like that because we have a lot of life to live and a lot still to give. We want to be known as SWEETS for the sweet years! Sweet because we’ve had our babies, we’ve done the job and now we just relax and get to be ourselves again! We lay in the sun or in bed as long as we like. We eat when and what we want. We also ignore people when they talk about diets and exercise. It’s a wonderful time of life for both of us!
Nakita is a little slow moving, but when standing still, she loves to dance. She wiggles, wiggles and picks her feet up and down. We call this her happy dance. She loves people and when you talk to her, she dances. I loved doing her photos. I get up and down a lot on the floor while shooting. The minute I would sit on the floor, here she’d come to get in my lap. We’d hug, kiss and lick, then we would lead her back to her spot. This happened every time I sat on the floor… I LOVED IT! I finally just sat on a stool, so I could get some pictures of her.
Nakita has skin allergies and is heartworm positive. She won’t be available for adoption for awhile due to treatment and recovery. I just wanted everyone to know what a truly wonderful girl she is.
Don’t let age ever let you overlook something wonderful. Just because something isn’t shiny or new doesn’t mean it doesn’t have a whole lot of worth. Nakita and I may have a few miles on us, but our worth runs high, if anyone takes the time to notice.
1/22/20 Update: I’ve been at the B&B for about a week now. Everyone here is very nice and the beds are comfy. My only complaint is this diet I’ve been told I need to go on…. hopefully, it’s not as bad as it sounds!
2/22/20 Update: This morning while in the bath Foster Mom said how excited she was to see that my fur was coming in. We decided to look at some pics from my first week here. Look at the difference in just 5 weeks.
2/27/20 Update: This single senior female is looking for her forever family! I love short walks and laying in my bed while chewing on a ball or bone. I prefer to be inside, even on nice days. I’m sweet to everyone! My perfect family needs to be willing to accept my incontinence issue. I’m potty trained, except for the accidents while I sleep and waterproof bed covers make cleanup easy!
3/17/20 Update: Last week was filled with short walks, treats and naps. I‘m supposed to be on a diet. So far, this diet thing isn’t bad at all. I love the green bean, peas, apples and blueberries. The walks are OK. I like them best when the neighbor kids come to love on me. I’m sweet to everyone. Of course, napping is my favorite! Get your applications in… if you get matched to me, I promise you won’t be disappointed!
5/20/20 Update: Foster girl Nakita reminds us that reading gives us someplace to go when we have to stay where we are.
6/17/20 Update: It’s my birthday and I’ll bark if I want to! I’ve had a great day of napping and hanging out around the pool. The best part was the ICE CREAM!
