Pepper has a brand new skin brother. Literally! He is only a few weeks old, but she already wants to mother him. She also got a mom and dad and a new fur sister, Bella. They are a perfect family and perfect home for this girl.
They lost Bella’s sister last year and have been waiting until the time was right to get another Bulldog. Bella needed a companion and their new son needed to be surrounded by Bulldogs. Pepper is very happy to meet those needs and join her forever family.
I am so happy for her and them. Like so many, she knew what was about to happen. She had waited all week for the family to come back and get her after their meeting last weekend. She ran out into the yard to greet them and gladly trotted to the car when it was time to go.
Good luck, sweet girl. I cannot wait to see more pictures of you and your new family as you grow together.
It is a pleasure to meet you all. As you know, a pepper can be spicy and I know I can bring plenty of spice into your life! I was found as a stray and taken in by an all-breed rescue. But they knew a stunning gal like me needed to be in a Bulldog rescue. So here I am, ready to introduce myself.
It looks like I’ve had more than a few litters because my undercarriage sways when I walk. If I get to walking too fast, I think they would sway so far, they would knock me down! But they are a reminder of the life I’ve lived and the lives I brought into the world.
I am around 7 years old and I have managed to put on a few well-deserved extra pounds. My age does make me limp a little when I walk, but I still get around fine. I love to walk on a leash and I have no problem going into a kennel. I have already met several dogs and loved being with every one of them.
I have a little blood in my urine, so I am off to the clinic to sit in Dr. Larsen’s lap. I hear all the pretty girls get to do that! I will get some work done and a needed tune-up there. Then I will be looking for my forever home. You better get that application submitted because you may be the match for me!
1/15/20 Update: I was found on the street and taken to an all-breed rescue, but they knew I needed to be in a Bulldog-specific rescue. Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue were happy to help me and when I arrived and saw all the other Bulldogs, I knew it was the right place for me!
When I came into rescue, I was limping on one of my legs, I had ear infections and blood in my urine. But Dr. Larsen is taking care of all those things, and I’m feeling a lot better now. I have arthritis meds for my leg, my ears are clearing up and my kidney infection is much better. All I’ve had to do is eat, sleep and let everyone take care of me. It’s been a long time since someone has taken care of me. I was a mom in my past life, so I’ve been the caretaker. It’s nice being pampered for a change. Everyone here tells me this is what my new life is going to be from now on. That’s fine by me!
I’m a no-trouble kind of gal ~ easy going, sweet and I get along with everyone. On picture day, the ladies told me I was of the best mannered Bulldog they had all day. The lady kissed me and thanked me for letting her take my pictures. I gave her a kiss back. She didn’t know it, but it was one of the best days of my life. It might have been the first time I’ve been the center of attention.
I’m ready for a good, quiet life, with a big soft bed and someone to rub my ears while I drift off to sleep. Maybe that could be you!
1//21/20 Update: I stayed a while at the vet clinic to be spayed and have my infected tail treated, but now I’ve moved into my foster home. I still have some stitches that will need to be taken out, and my tail is still a little yucky, but I feel so much better.
Foster Pops said I could just relax and spend some time by myself for a couple of days. I need to decompress from being in the vet clinic with all those other dogs. Then, he will slowly introduce me to the three dogs that live here. I met them once before when I spent my first night in rescue. When Foster Pops took me to the vet clinic, he said he would be back to get me and he visited me several times.
I am so excited. I can’t wait to see what’s ahead and what wonderful family will be matched with me. I’ll tell you more about me and life here in my next report.
1/27/20 Update: Pepper has been with us for a week now and she has really endeared herself to her foster family. She has done great with two foster brothers and a foster sister. She loves nothing more than being petted and getting a belly rub a few times a day. She loves long naps in a comfy bed, but she also enjoys some mildly active playtimes with the boys.
She has not said a harsh word to anyone, and when others say things trying to stir up trouble, she just walks away. She would do well for all types of families, except those wanting a very active dog. She should do well with the smallest of children.
The only negative has been some peeing on the floor in the middle of the night. This has only been on nights when we left her free to roam. If confined to a crate at night, she does fine. We have started pulling her water earlier in the evening and taking her outside for a walk around the yard right before bedtime. We think that will help.
We bought her a new collar, harness and leash this week so she will be ready for Valentine’s Day. She just can’t wait to find that loving family to be her perfect valentine.
