Rudolph

Hello Bulldog Friends, my new name is Rudolph but everyone can call me Rudy.  I must say it’s been a long time coming for me to find you.  I was actually in another rescue where the SPCA removed me and about 100 more animals because of our living conditions.  Today was my exit day from the SPCA and here I am.  I jumped up in the SUV, waved my paws at my  SPCA friends and never looked back. Better days are in my future and I can hardly wait to tell Santa what I want for Christmas. You might think it’s a family, and if you do, you are absolutely right! Rudy wants a family, a forever family with lots of love, lots of kisses and lots of attention. I am really young, maybe a year, but not yet 2. I have some skin problems, but nothing some medication and baths won’t fix.   But first there is really something you need to know about me.  And this new came straight from the Veterinarians that examined me at the SPCA.

To whom it may concern:  Bulldog number #………….has been found to be a true hermaphrodite, with both male and female external genitalia. This dog urinates from the vaginal opening. The underdeveloped penis presents is nonfunctional and there is no prepuce. The dog could not physically procreate. In the future, the dog would need a neuter, an exploratory, with possible OHE and a penile resection in order to close the surrounding abdominal hole.

So, bulldog friends that’s some major news about me.  It’s ok if you don’t understand.  Just know I am going to find a family that it will not matter one way or the other that I have been wired a little different.  I am now at Dr. Larsen’s Vet Clinic and today I hopped up in her lap and Dr. Larsen was not at all shocked! Dr. Larsen told me she had done the type of surgery I need on a bulldog she named Ranger a few years ago and Ranger is living a fabulous life with his great family.  So, bulldog friends here’s to an amazing future for me and a wonderful Christmas is in my future.  Love Everyone Much, Rudy

1/15/20 Update:  I was one of the lucky Bulldogs that came to Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue from the SPCA following the seizure of more than 100 dogs from a site with bad living conditions. Two women came to the SPCA and picked me and two other Bulldogs to come to the rescue with them. We were so lucky.

I am 2 years old and I am very healthy, except that I was born with a condition ~ one I never knew I had until I came to rescue. You see, I was born with male and female parts. Crazy, I know!

OK, let me explain. My male part did not develop to the end of my shaft. It came through an opening (my girl part) on the shaft, making me a boy and a girl. Because that wasn’t where it was supposed to be, it caused urine scalding on my skin. It was inflamed and hurt all the time. Dr. Larsen is a genius, so she closed the opening and re-routed my urinary tract to the back of me. Yes, I squat to wee, wee, but I’m still a boy. I was always a boy, just manufactured a little different. I have had two surgeries and everything is working just fine now. Dr. Larsen performed this same surgery on a Bulldog named Ranger a while back and he is still a healthy, happy boy living with his forever family.

But, enough about that. You should know I am one of the happiest boys you’ll ever meet. I love to play, and toys are my favorite. Toys, toys, toys… just give me a bunch of toys. The soft, stuffed animals are the best! I love people and other dogs. Everyone says I am a HOOT! I made the ladies laugh out loud on picture day. The way they got me to sit still was to hold toys over my head. I told you ~ I love toys.

I’m just about ready to join my foster parents and start my new life. I’m just a boy, just looking for a family to love and play with… That’s not too much to ask for now, is it?
