Today is the first day of the rest of my life! I am 7 years old and everybody says I must have a healthy appetite. I guess I’m on “the chunky side.”
My parents could no longer provide the care they knew I needed for a dog my age. They wanted to be sure I could get help, so I could live many more years. That’s why I came to rescue.
I went to the vet clinic today and got all checked out by the staff. Dr. Larsen let me follow her around and then I put my head in her lap. She said I would have to lose some weight before I could fit my whole body in there. I also need some dental work, some skin treatments and some work on my tail. Otherwise, I am in pretty good shape.
Everybody keeps telling me I am one of the happiest boys they have seen. They love the way I smile and shuffle around. I can’t wait for my adventure ahead. Keep checking in to see my progress, as I get my middle-aged body back in beach shape for the summer. The babes will be drooling for sure!
6/8/20 Update: It is absolutely no fun being on a diet when someone is having a birthday party! The vet clinic staff have me on a diet—one cup of food twice a day. But, today, they were throwing a birthday party for this Bulldog girl who came to visit … and they had CUPCAKES!! YUM!
I put on my saddest face and whined just a little until they gave in… They agreed it’s not fair to be on a diet at a birthday party, and so they gave me the world’s smallest cupcake. I sucked in the whole thing with one gulp. 😂 Better than no cake at all!
P.S. Can anyone sneak me in some contraband? I’ll pay you in smiles and slobbery kisses!
6/17/20 Update: I’m spending some time at the Holway farm. They say I’m here to lose weight and they make me walk 1/2 way around the house every morning. I’m not a fan, but I guess I’ll do it. Also, I make everyone laugh when I growl at the backdoor to come in. You see, it’s lots of effort for me to move around, so when I feel like I’m done being outside, I’m not super willing to do anything else. Foster Mom isn’t being super flexible on my workout schedule, so I back talk her lots. I’m a good boy … just a little on the larger side.
6/24/20 Update: I’m still here at the farm hanging out and trying to get in shape for my new life.
I’m not impressed with how these humans make me walk half way around the house to go potty. I prefer to go 2 feet off the porch and go right back inside to rest. They’re so unreasonable.
I have my very own large pen here and I really would like to just hang out there and watch foster mom boss all the other fur kids around, but she’s not having it. Sometimes I talk to her in a grumpy voice when she lifts up my butt to get me moving. Can you imagine? This lady thinks she can just pick up my bum and push me around. She especially likes to do it when it’s cooler outside like right now! She made me walk almost a full circle around house this morning.
Earlier this week, she thought she’d put me in a harness thing with a long cord attached, but I sat real still. Then the security latch just pops open while she’s tugging and telling me how cute and good I am. I’m not using that “cage on a cord” to go for a walk.
So anyhow, I weigh in this week so I’ll let ya’ll know how my “keto” is going.
Here’s some pics of me doing what I love…nothing.
Happy Father’s Day!
7/14/20 Update: I’m still here at the farm working on my new physique. I’m down to 69 pounds! It’s a slow process, but I’m doing great. I’m a bit ornery sometimes, when I’ve had it with the exercise thing, but I’m sure you know all can relate.
7/29/20 Update: WOW. What a hot week. I haven’t lost any more weight, but foster mom says I will because I’m moving more. I like to run down the sidewalk when a new human visits. I’m sure they’re coming to see me. I’m a hit in the neighborhood.
8/30/20 Update: I’m healing very well after my tail surgery and Foster Mom can’t believe how much I follow everyone around now. Just getting my steps in for the day!
