Troy (now Winston Churchill)

Troy (now Winston Churchill)

Please light a candle for the family of Winston Churchill, as they’re grieving the loss of their sweet boy.

From his furever momma: It’s with a heavy heart that I report Winston Churchill (aka Troy when he was in rescue) passed away suddenly two weeks ago. At best guess – from rescue – he was 6-7 years old when I adopted him in early 2019. After that, he lived like the ROYALTY he was. We are broken-hearted but will be rescuing another Bulldog soon, hopefully!

Winston had a wonderful life, never sleeping anywhere but in bed with his family. He traveled by car to many states and slept in some fine hotels!

He stepped down out of bed two weeks ago and had a seizure or stroke (or both) at 6:40 a.m., and died within 3 minutes. We are devastated, but also glad that it was not a lengthy illness or injury.

Please say a prayer for Winston at the Rainbow Bridge and for us. He was everything to his family.

Troy found his perfect match of his forever family and boy did he hit the jackpot!  His new parents were so excited when we walked in the door.  What was waiting for him? He had an enormous comfy bed, the best toys ever and most importantly, all the snuggles and tummy scratches a bullie boy could every want.

Troy walked in like he owned the place and this made foster mom so happy!

This little angel will never want for anything ever again. Happy tails, sweet boy….you will always be in our heart.

Welcome Troy to our rescue family! He writes: There I was just walking down the road, minding my own business. I wasn’t sure where I was or how I got there. This nice man stopped and said a beefy Bulldog like me didn’t need to be in the middle of the road. He went to several houses in the area and no one knew who I was.

He left me in the care of this nice lady near where he found me. She made posters and put them around the area and at some vet offices. She and I waited a whole month and no one come looking for me. So here I am, in rescue.

I am about 6 years old and in great health. Some might say I am just a little bit too heavy, but I say I am just big boned. I love being around people of all ages and other dogs. I even liked the woman’s cat! Well, I tolerated it. That’s about all you can do with a cat.

I am at the vet for a few days to get checked out and then I’ll be off to my foster home to wait to be matched to my new forever family. So get those applications submitted!

2/26/19 Update:  Troy has had a great couple of weeks in his new foster home.  Discovering this little bullie boy’s personality has been so much fun.  He may be 6 years old, but he doesn’t act it.  Let’s talk zoomies!  When you see a 70 lb butter ball coming at you, full speed, you definitely brace for impact…then he passes you to jump on the couch!  Then off again and runs in the other direction. He seems to be in heaven and is awesome to witness.  Of course some serious naps are going to happen after a zoomie session.  Troy loves his couch time with his humans, but especially his blanket, or any blanket, really.  He likes to ball up a section on it and suck on it like a pacifier.  His house training is going very well and he gets along great with his foster siblings.  Stay tuned for more Troy stories!
