Bette

Bette

Bette has been adopted!! A note from Bette: Bette Lou here to tell you I’ve packed my bags and headed off with my new fur ever dad. We’re headed to meet up with my new fur ever mom and fur brother Gus!  It was love at first sight for me and Dad.  He melted when he saw my pretty little face.  My new mom says I’m headed to a retirement home for bullies!  She said it’s mine and brother Gus’s house  she and Dad just live there. I get to sleep in the bed with Mom and Dad and lounge on the couch at my leisure. Lots of treats and yummy food, what more could a beautiful Bette want!!??  As Dad and I drove away I saw Foster Mom and Pop wave and shed a few tears. I know I will see them again because I heard them tell my new dad they would come visit me sometime.  The hard life is behind and good times are here forever!!!!

Covered in fleas and ticks Bette needed a rescue along time before she joined ours. Even though Bette was dark brindle it was easy to see the ticks crawling and the fleas jumping off her. Bette was found wandering in a small west Texas town in sad shape. Bette has a very large growth on her rear leg, which will need to be addressed by our vet ASAP.

The tumor on Bette’s hip was removed and it was benign with clean borders. Bette’s bad life is behind her now, all the fleas and ticks are gone, and Bette begins to heal.  She has a long road to recovery but she is doing great!

4/10/18 Update:  I’ve been sprung from the vet, and I’m feeling spry! No more fleas or ticks and that big nasty tumor was benign and is now gone! Woot-woot!

My foster mom, dad and fur siblings are so nice. I get treats, get to run and play, and even got a special belly rub. I forgot how good it feels to be cared for, pet and loved – I’ve missed it…I’m crate trained, potty trained and good with other dogs! And, foster mom says I have the cutest-wiggliest run of any bully she’s ever seen. Basically, I’m practically perfect in every way! TTFN – Bette Lou

4/22/18 Update:  It’s me, Bette! 🐾 This has been the best week at the foster crib.I thought I’d let you know some of the cool things I did so you can learn a little more about me. 🙌🏼 First off, foster brother still does NOT understand that I have claimed the middle dog bed in front of the fire place (He is such a pouter!). So, whatever… I let him share and we cuddle up in one bed (but between you and me, he needs to move it or start eating less because this girl needs her beauty sleep and he is crampin’ my style!). Speaking of sleeping, I got to get my tan on with afternoon sun naps with the siblings – it is so nice to be safe and secure so I can rest peacefully. 🌝

This week, I also learned about these things called ‘toys’… As you can see from my picture, I chewed on a bone🍖! But, I’ll be honest, I’m not sure I get the point of the toys. Did you know you can’t eat them?! What’s the…!? OH! I have also officially taken on some chores at the house, including bathing foster sissy. She thinks it is just me giving her kisses, but secretly, I am bathing her (what she doesn’t know won’t kill her!).👅

As you can see. it has been a pretty exciting week! But, the biggest, most exciting thing that happened…. I GOT TO SLEEP ON THE BIG PEOPLE BED! 🛌Yes, you heard that right! I slept on the big bed with my foster parents – right in the middle of them! It was ah-mazing! So amazing, that I have now updated the application information to require a king or queen size people bed that I can sleep in with you… So, please plan accordingly😊 TTFN – Bette Lou

5/6/18 Update:  This sweet girl is the best house guest! Bette is 4 years old, gets along with people & dogs, isn’t possessive of toys/food/beds/people, is crate trained, house trained (not one accident!), loves walks & really loves riding in the car. She doesn’t whine or bark or chew, requires no meds, tolerates her baths and loves her belly rubs!

So, what are her flaws? Hmm… well, she doesn’t have any, in my opinion, but when I consulted the fur-siblings of the house, I was advised that she “.. is bossy and kisses too much…”  It’s true. Bette has obviously been a mama, so she is the alpha boss mom of the pack and she takes giving the others baths very seriously. She keeps asking when she will get her own furever family… so fill out your application and maybe you’ll be matched to her!

5/21/18 Update:  It’s Betteeeee here!! I am all settled in to the new B&B. Foster Mom, Pops and the fur siblings are super sweet! Foster Mom learned real quick that I LOVE treats, belly rubs, yummy food, and more treats! I continue to hold a perfect record of going potty outside, being crate trained, and my perfect bootie wiggle. I’m very patient and wait my turn for treats and food. I never complain and rarely bark. I LOVE to be LOVED and give LOTS of LOVE in return.Yes, I still LOVE to sleep in the bed and ride in the car!! I’m the perfect LOVING companion that just wants to be the LOVE of your life.

This week, I got the coolest new hot pink scarf to wear around my neck. It was SO awesome! We had a fashion show and Foster Mom said I was “sporting the newest trend of summer accessories!” Not sure what that means, but I was so excited to wear it that I, of course, did a bootie wiggle down the runway! Foster Mom says it goes great with my youthful gray hair. Speaking of gray hair…. Foster Mom says all the fashion magazines are saying gray hair is the hottest hair color for 2018! Young women are paying big bucks to have hair like mine, and the coolest thing is mine is au natural! The Dallas Pet Expo was tons of fun. I had a blast meeting all the people and getting lots of pets. By day two, I was totally worn out and I just rolled over on my back and took a snooze right then and there.

OK, well, I smell a treat so I better wiggle my way to the kitchen! Hugs and wet kisses, Bette
