I can hear the hearts breaking! Or maybe it’s just my heart? I am beyond happy that Deeds found his forever home. He now has his very own dad, mom, three skin brothers and a fur brother, Rocky, to run and play with. Even though I only had Deeds a short time, he stole my heart and he will be missed!
Thank you, Monachelli family, for loving very special boy and giving him the most wonderful home he deserves.
Mr. Deeds (formerly known as Davis) has returned to rescue. The family adopted him and a young female bulldog. What they found was that Mr Deeds was a little more than they could handle. Their vet told them he has the equivalent of human ADHD. When he would play with his fur sister, he would get overly excited and couldn’t calm down. After both dogs and their young daughter sustained some minor injuries they made the tough decision to return Mr Deeds to rescue.
I’m assessing his behavior with my two older female bulldogs, who are both very calm. So far they haven’t really engaged him. With me he has stayed calm and we’ve played a bit with some toys.
My first impressions are that he is very young. He is great on a leash. He keeps one eye on me and the other on the path. He doesn’t pull at all and enjoyed our short brisk walks. He moves pretty quick for a bulldog. He’s a little shadow and wants to be right with me in the house. He seems to be potty trained and has no problem with going out and doing his business. He’s very vocal when it’s meal time. He lets me know that I’m not fixing his dish fast enough.

Davis has left the house, adopted and with a new name: Mr. Deeds!
This beautiful boy packed his bags and blew this popsicle stand to join his forever family, including a skin sister and a fur sister, Tilly, also adopted from Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue. Word is that the play time has been epic, although Mr. Deeds is still learning the right way to play and be mannerly. Mr. Deeds wants to please his people, so he will have all that down in no time. Happy tails, little man… Foster Mom and Dad will miss your sweet kisses.
Let me just say right up front, I do have issues. But you don’t have to laugh!
My name is Davis cause people say I look dapper like Sammy D. Jr.. Why, it almost looks like I’m wearing a tuxedo. But they laugh because my eyes are a little different. Instead of being crossed, they go a little outward. Helps me see who is sneaking up from behind!
I was picked up today from a shelter. I have a prolapsed urethrae, whatever that is. All I know is there was a lot of blood when I went to pee. It is better now, but I still need an operation. I am super friendly and love all people and pets. I am only 2 years old. I’m a little small and only weigh 36 pounds. Hey, I’m skinny, like my namesake!

6/17/19 Update: Mr. Deeds had a great week that ended with the Bulldogs and BBQ event. He wanted to say thank you to everyone who attended and took time to give him some love. He slept for two hours after we got home. Mr. Deeds needs a family that understands puppy proofing. He is a power chewer and will chew anything he can get his teeth around. Foster mom had to get a metal basket to replace the plastic bin that housed the dog toys.
6/23/19 Update: Mr. Deeds had a great week. As I mentioned before, he was diagnosed with hyperkinesis, otherwise known as puppy ADHD. He had several episodes where he would be playing and get out of control. He couldn’t calm down without being isolated. After discussing this with Dr. Larsen, we decided to try fluoxetine. He has been great on this medication. He’s his normal, playful self, without any out-of-control episodes. I’m so happy that this could give him the opportunity to find the right forever family. He has been doing great with my two older and calmer female Bulldogs, so he should be OK with another dog, but think he would do great as an only dog. He loves his toys and his new favorite is the Kong tire.
7/10/19 Update: Mr. Deeds is an active pup and loves to play, but this week, we discovered his cuddle position. He was tired and kept climbing over me on the sofa. So, I pulled him onto his back and scratched his belly. He completely relaxed. Looks like Mr. Deeds likes to cuddle after all.
7/23/19 Update: Mr. Deeds had a medical issue this week. His urethra prolapsed. He went to see Dr. Larsen and had to have a minor medical procedure to fix the issue. He is recovering at his foster home and hasn’t been fond of his new belly band attire. He plans to be back to his normal jovial self later this week or maybe next week. He also hopes to be matched to a forever family soon.
10/22/19 Update: I checked into Mays’ Manor a few weeks ago and I am settling in just fine. I get along with everyone and everyone seems to like me! I’m such a good boy – I’m currently keeping Foster Mom’s legs and feet warm. Maybe if you are looking for someone to keep you warm, I could be that fella.
