From the foster/furever momma: I bring tidings of great joy… Gravy has been adopted! Yes, another foster fail and just in time for Christmas! What a beautiful gift. This gentle senior soul touched our hearts very deeply. We knew when we brought him home, he would never leave. He was home to stay. He needed us as much as we needed him!
Nearly blind, deaf and arthritic, he needed all we had. We saw great progress in the short time he was with us. He started learning the lay out of the house and where his water bowl and bed were located. He was learning what a home was and what it felt like to be loved.
We found ourselves carrying him around most of the time because of his impairments, much like a teddy bear and so it seemed very fitting that he should be called Teddy… strong like President Teddy Roosevelt, but soft and sweet like a teddy bear. Teddy it was! Volunteer Stacy made him a beautiful teddy bear bandanna in celebration of his new life!
Welcome home, Teddy. Merry Christmas and have a blessed New Year!
This is Gravy. He was surrendered to a local shelter by his owner. We’re told that Gravy is 12 years old and he had lived with the same owner since he was 8 weeks old.
Now, we don’t know all the details about the former owner or how he or she cared for Gravy…. so let’s not dwell on that. Let’s focus on Gravy’s future.
We’re grateful that our shelter friends contacted us about this Senior Saint and asked for our help. Our volunteer, Dog Uber, picked him up today and transported him as quickly as possible to our vet’s office for care.
Unfortunately, Gravy smelled downright rotten, so his first bath was a godsend. We know his folds are infected, his nose is crusted over, his back is bleeding, his mouth is a mess and his nails were so long, he had trouble walking… Dr. Larsen will soon give us a full report on everything else he may be facing.
But no matter what… we will face it together.
Gravy, today is the first day of your new life. From here on out, you will always get the care you need and the love you deserve. You are now part of our family, forever and always. Welcome to the good life, buddy.
