Elly Lynn

How fabulous can one gal be? First my foster mom fell in love with me. Then my vacation mom almost couldn’t let me go. Then, can you even believe it, my new furever family was right there waiting for me when I woke up from a little smile improvement procedure with Dr. Larsen. Waiting. For ME! Well, they had to sneak me away before my foster dad came back from vacation because he has a pretty bad crush on me. It happens to gals like me. But now, I’m right where I belong and couldn’t be happier! Thanks for everything!

Bulldog people, do I have a story to tell!  It all started when my home was flooded. I was the only one home and it was a nightmare. Water was pouring from the ceiling; the ceiling had collapsed, and I was swimming for dear life. My family came home when I had just about given up hope because with these 4-inch legs I was getting tired of treading water!

And this brings me to why I have joined rescue.  My family is being relocated for the next 8-10 months it is going to take to repair all the water damage.  It is just going to be a nightmare and I am not ready to relocate.  Everyone is so stressed. Finding a place to live has been a nightmare. Some take dogs, some don’t.

I never really thought of myself as a dog, but with fur it is hard to hide the fact I am. My family had a heart to heart talk, and we all decided that I would be happier if I find another home. I didn’t want to add to the stress, I was just so stressed myself.

I am a tiny little lady at 30 lbs. I could ride in a backpack if you like to hike. I love the outdoors and Fall is my favorite time of the year. Something is going on with my front tooth. It’s called a gingival growth and I need Dr. Larsen to remove it.

Next week I am going to sit in Dr. Larsen’s lap so she can look at me. I am going to ask her if she will put me in her backpack and let me assist on surgery day. I know I can do something to help. Even if it is just to hold her light so she can see better.  My name is Elly Lynn, and I am 8 years old.

8/29/22 Update:  Thank you for welcoming Joe and I at the Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue Bulldog Bonanza at Hollywood Feed on Sunday. We loved meeting everyone and Elly Lynn is fitting in great! She’s already made herself at home, as you can see from the photo. We are thrilled to be her foster family and love her already!

8/31/22 Update:  Elly Lynn is making herself at home! She follows the ‘big dogs’ everywhere they go. They bark, she barks. They jump up, she jumps up. They line up for a treat, she lines up and hopes for two treats! Elly is also a next level napper! That may be because she’s a little under the weather right now, but she sees Dr. Larson on Friday and is looking forward to feeling better soon. Elly likes to be wherever we are, and wherever the dogs are. She’s getting along great with everyone, even though she’s the tiniest of the bunch. She moves a little slow and may have some selective bulldog hearing, but she’s an absolute sweetie. She’s had no accidents, loves treats, and LOVES to have her face and ears rubbed. She also does great having her face wrinkles cleaned and nose moisturized every day, although that may be new for her. This tiny but mighty girl will steal your heart!

9/6/22 Update:  Elly continues to be an absolute little doll. She’s a whole 29 pounds of precious! But this petite lady makes a big impression. Elly follows us everywhere we go and just wants to be in the same place, preferably getting a little head rub.

Elly went to see Dr. Larsen today. As expected, she has a chest and nose infection, as well as really bad ear infections. We’d already begun to suspect this week that Elly could not hear us, and Dr. Larsen confirmed that her little ear canals are completely calcified closed due to years of untreated ear infections. She’s taking antibiotics to clear up this infection, but it’s likely that she’ll never hear well, if at all, again. But that doesn’t stop her!

Elly will stay on her antibiotics treatments for two weeks before going back to the vet clinic for her dental surgery. She’s going to feel like a pup again in no time!

Until then, she’s keeping everyone in line as staircase monitor!

9/12/22 Update:  Elly-belly’s personality really came out this week. She loves to play keep away with the ball or a bone.

This morning, she ventured out for her first neighborhood walk, well half walk – half ride! She made it to the end of the block and decided to bat her eyelashes until Foster Dad carried her home. She may be getting a wee bit spoiled.
