7/18/26 INTRODUCTION ~ Please welcome Arlene Ann to our rescue family.
Friends, don’t ever forget that one act of kindness is all it takes to change a life.
For Arlene Ann, that act came from a stranger named Autumn who refused to look the other way.
Arlene Ann was found sitting quietly outside an apartment door in the Texas heat. No collar, no microchip and no one searching for her. Though Autumn couldn’t keep her, she made sure Arlene Ann was safe. She brought her inside, gave her a much-needed bath, fresh water, food and a cool place to rest while waiting for animal services. Before Arlene Ann left for the shelter, that Autumn reached out to us, hoping someone would see the sweet Bulldog she had come to care about in just a few short hours.
When Arlene Ann arrived at the shelter, her body told the story of a difficult life. It looks like she’s been bred several times. She also tested positive for heartworms, and looked exhausted from simply trying to survive. For about a week, she watched people pass her kennel, wondering if anyone was coming to retrieve her.
It would have been easy for Arlene Ann to lose hope, but thankfully, she didn’t have to wait forever.
Because a foster family stepped forward, Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue was able to say “yes” and bring Arlene Ann to safety. The day she left the shelter, our volunteer Cindy wrapped her in a hug and reminded her of something she’d probably forgotten long ago… that she was beautiful, she mattered and her life was worth saving.
Today, Arlene Ann is finally getting the love, medical care and fresh start she has always deserved. Her story isn’t just about how she ended up in rescue. It’s about the people who chose to change her future.
💙 And that’s where you come in.
Arlene Ann is alive today because someone opened their home to foster. Every time a family says “yes” to fostering, it gives us the ability to say “yes” to another Bulldog in need. Right now, there are more dogs like Arlene Ann waiting for their second chance.
If you live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and have room in your home and heart, please consider becoming a foster family. We provide the veterinary care and support, and you help the healing begin.
One foster home truly can save one life. Will you help us save the next Arlene Ann? Message us to learn more.
Can’t foster, but still want to support Arlene Ann’s journey to health? To help us offset the expected $800 to $1,000 cost of her heartworm treatment, please consider making a $10 gift via dfwbulldogrescue.org/donate.
7/26/26 UPDATE ~ From the foster momma: Arlene Ann is settling into her foster home and is doing wonderfully! She gets along great with the other dogs in the house. While she can be a little protective of her personal space at times, she responds well to gentle correction.
Her sweet, goofy personality is shining through more each day, and we’ve discovered that she absolutely loves belly rubs! In fact, she’ll gently paw at you when she’s ready for even more affection. ❣️
Arlene Ann is heartworm positive and has already begun her treatment regimen. Through it all, she’s proving what a resilient, loving girl she is, and we know she’ll make an incredible companion for one lucky family.
Stay tuned for more updates on this sweet girl!
8/2/26 UPDATE ~ This gorgeous, sweet girl is doing so well in her foster home! She even got to enjoy the cooler temps this morning outside. She’s a goofy, affectionate, loyal companion.
8/9/26 UPDATE ~ Arlene Ann is doing GREAT in her foster home. But honestly, were we expecting anything less from a girl named Arlene Ann?
Tell me that doesn’t sound like the name of a 1950s diner waitress who wears a pink apron, chews gum while taking your order and has absolutely NO problem telling you that you’ve been sitting at table six for two hours and need to order another milkshake. 😂
“Hi, honey. What can I get ya?”
“Arlene, I’ll have the cheeseburger.”
“Uh-huh. And?”
“Fries?”
“That’s what I thought.”
Arlene Ann has settled beautifully into foster life and is soaking up all the love and attention she can get. Her little Bulldog personality is coming out more every day, and we’re pretty sure there could be at little more attitude under that adorable face.
She’s also undergoing heartworm treatment right now, which means this little waitress has been put on mandatory slow service. No running around the diner. No unnecessary excitement. Just plenty of rest, room service, snacks and being doted on by the customers. And she seems to be handling it just fine.
She’s enjoying the good life she deserves, getting more comfortable every day and proving that sometimes the best things on the menu are love, patience and a very spoiled Bulldog.
So if you’re looking for Arlene Ann, she’s currently behind the counter. She’s wearing her apron, judging your order and prepping for her forever table.
8/23/26 UDPATE ~ From the foster momma: Our sweet foster girl Arlene Ann is doing great in her foster home! She’s patiently working her way through heartworm treatment like the absolute champ she is. Despite everything she’s been through, Arlene Ann is just a happy, easygoing girl who loves life.
She gets along beautifully with other dogs and is a joy to have around. Once she completes her heartworm treatment, we think she’ll make a wonderful companion for just about anyone. We can’t wait to see what her future holds!

9/20/26 UPDATE ~ Sweet foster girl Arlene Ann is heading in for her heartworm treatment injections this week, and her foster momma is asking everyone to keep this brave girl in their thoughts.
Heartworm treatment is tough on dogs… and expensive for rescue, too, often costing $800–$1,000. But getting our Bulldogs healthy is what we do, and we’re grateful for the supporters who help make it possible.
Want to help Arlene Ann while getting some Bulldog gear? Our apparel fundraiser is still going, and every sweatshirt or T-shirt purchased by September 26 helps us cover vet bills like hers.

10/11/26 UPDATE ~ Arlene Ann is doing great in her foster home! This sweet girl is taking full advantage of some well-deserved downtime while she completes her crate rest following heartworm treatment. Her assignment is to rest, relax and let her body heal. And she’s doing a wonderful job!
Arlene Ann will finish her crate rest on October 23, and we can’t wait for her to get back to enjoying a little more freedom!
Here’s the thing about heartworm treatment: it’s not just tough on the dogs. It’s also expensive!
Thankfully, fundraisers like our 20th annual Bull-O-Ween help Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue cover the cost of lifesaving veterinary care, including heartworm treatment for dogs like Arlene Ann.
Come celebrate with us and help us save more Bulldogs!
