Bailey Faith

I gave myself the name Bailey Faith and yesterday was “Fabulous Friday” for me too.

Buttercup Grace and I were found in the country and, thankfully, we were taken in by a wonderful woman.

We visited a local shelter so we could be checked for microchips, yet that was a “no go.” The folks at the shelter estimated us to be about 1 year old.

For three weeks, our new friend blew up social media with our photos. She looked in every nook and cranny for our owner. She just knew we had gotten lost and someone was looking for us.

In the end, that was not the case, so we joined rescue. We would’ve surely died in the Texas heat had someone not cared for us.

I am super scared now, but I’m sure I’ll grow more confident in the next few days. It’s hard to be dumped in the country. I mean, could you trust people again? I keep hearing these rescue friends will help us work past that, just one step at a time.

8/3/23 Update:  Bailey Faith enjoys bring outside and is learning to relax a little bit!

9/5/23 Update:  Bailey is doing great in her foster home! She is very shy and scared of most anything! But if she sees another getting pets, she gets right in the middle.

9/27/23 Update:  Bailey Faith is still a bit timid, but every day, she breaks through a little more! She loves toys and has started interacting and playing with her foster mom. She still sleeps under foster mom’s bed, but she is starting to venture out… and even jumping up on the big bed!

11/24/23 Update:  Bailey is still working on her self confidence, but she is showing more of her personality little by little. Bailey is very silly, sweet, very interested in her foster mom and very playful!

Bailey was great with the Frenchie grand pup and they played well together. She was pretty scared of the grand kid (2 years old) and the rest of the family, though.

It’s very hard to get pictures because Bailey is scared of the phone.  But this is her ~ one second she holds her head up and the next, she tries to sink in the ground. We’ll continue working with her to become more confident.

12/29/23 Update:  Bailey Faith is burning off some of those Christmas calories!

She is very sweet, scared of all people and very playful. She needs some training in the “Don’t Knock Foster Mom Over Department.” LOL! She attempts to play with me just like she plays with the pups!

1/16/24 Update:  Bailey Faith continues to blossom! She is 100% potty trained! She is starting to stay put in a dog bed when foster mom moves around instead of bolting under the bed or into a kennel. She is starting to venture more into the living room. She did not do well with the mobile groomer but that is ok. Next time I will give her a little something to calm her and see if it’s better for her.

2/23/24 Update:  Bailey Faith has been in her foster home for many months and is slowly making progress.

Storms scare her and for the first time, Bailey came to me and nestled into my armpit for comfort. She let me hug and embrace her through the storm. It has almost become normal for her to seek out snuggles with me at night, until I move… then she darts back under the bed.

She is still scared of me at times and of other people, but I had a dog sitter come for the weekend and Bailey snuggled at bed time with her! That’s progress.

She continues to take treats from me and will join the pack for pre-feeding games of “catch a treat” or “sit for a treat!”

5/30/24 Update:  Bailey Faith has been very slow with progress, but slow progress is better than no progress!

She is shy and very timid, but her curiosity is pulling her out from under the bed! We had strangers in the home yesterday and she kept coming to the gate to take a look. She would run and hide when they spoke to her ~ and then she’d come back to watch what was going on.

After almost a year, she finally came into the living room and is comfortable! I am ecstatic for her! It was tricky to take the photos because the phone scares her and I can only make small movements.  Way to go, Bailey Faith!

6/21/24 Update:  Bailey Faith went for her yearly checkup and the whole ordeal started stressful for her! I wasn’t sure if I was gonna get her out of the house! She was ok with the harness inside the house but going outside through a different door scared her!  She did surprisingly well on the leash as long as we had no door ways to go through. She will start getting regular car rides and hopefully they will get easier for her!

8/14/24 Update:  Bailey Faith has made incredible progress! She’s gone from hiding under the bed out of fear to happily spending time in any room where her foster mom is located. While she still retreats to her cozy spot under the bed when she needs a break, she now spends much more time with everyone.

Bailey Faith has a beautiful, gentle soul and adores snuggling up with her foster mom wherever she can. She’s truly blossoming and is ready to find a loving forever family who will appreciate her sweet nature.

3/7/25 Update:  Since returning to rescue, Bailey Faith has fit right back into the pack! She is scared of most any movements or sounds but grab a leash and she is ready to go!
