9/27/27 INTRODUCTION ~ Please welcome Cinni to our rescue family!
When Cinni joined rescue today, it took four trips to the car just to bring in all of her things. She also arrived with 24 pages of medical records detailing everything she has been dealing with.
And she arrived with a mom who was in tears.
She loved Cinni enough to finally admit she was at the end of her rope trying to keep her girl healthy.
When Cinni’s mom first reached out to us, she explained why she needed to surrender her:
“I am moving and I can no longer care for her. She has multiple health issues. I rescued her four years ago. I was married at the time; I am going through a divorce, and he cannot take her either.”
This is a woman whose life has changed dramatically, while Cinni’s medical needs have become more than she can manage.
And those needs are significant.
Cinni has a skin infection from her head to her tail, across her belly and down her legs. She smells strongly of yeast. Her eyes are a mess. Her ears are, too. She stops frequently to urinate, and we’re concerned she may have a bladder stone.
But the hardest thing to see is Cinni herself.
She doesn’t look happy. She looks really sad. If she could tell us what hurts, we think she would simply say, “I just feel bad.”
Maybe because her skin feels like it’s on fire or because her ears hurt. It seems she’s been uncomfortable for far too long.
We’re told that when Cinni was just 2 years old, she had puppies and every one of them died. Her owner at the time decided Cinni should be euthanized.
But fate stepped in and Cinni was given another chance. She eventually found her way to the woman who has loved her for the past four years. And today, that woman made one of the hardest decisions a dog mom can make: she put Cinni’s future ahead of her own and asked us to take over her care.
Before she left, we made her a promise.
We will not stop until we have addressed every medical issue we can. Until her skin is healthy. Until her ears and eyes are treated. Until we know what is causing her urinary problems. Until Cinni feels good again.
Her mom cried because that’s exactly what she wanted…. to see the light come back into Cinni’s eyes and to know that her girl is finally getting the care she needs.
And while we’re helping Cinni, other Bulldogs are waiting for their chance. We need more foster families in the Dallas/Fort Worth area so we can continue saying yes to dogs whose families can no longer care for them, dogs who have been abandoned and dogs who simply have nowhere else to go.
If you have room in your home and heart for a Bulldog, please consider fostering. You could be the reason another dog gets the second chance Cinni just received. Message us to learn more.
