Daisy Jane

Happy New Year! 2023 is my year! That right, I finally have my furever home and I’m so excited.

I came into rescue when I was already in my golden years. My eye sight isn’t what is use to be. The hearing isn’t as sharp. I don’t play like I once did.

All these things make me… well, me.

My foster parents always treated me no different than the others. I saw other Bulldogs get adopted, but I kept waiting. Unfortunately, with no meet and greets, I nearly gave up hope. I always feared getting older and not having a family to call my own.

My anxiety is finally over. I am what some call a “foster fail.” I’m choosing another way to look at it. I call it a “Furever Find.”

Everything has lead up to this moment ~ 486 days in rescue was my number. I was supposed to live out my life at Casa De Meza.

My now furever parents have showed me love ever since they picked me up. Now I have so many siblings to help pamper me and I love it! Some of the best things in life are aged.

Thank you to everyone who supports Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue. Without you, I wouldn’t have this magical ending.

Life is sometimes full of tough decisions.

My family loved me and I loved them. We have been together for over five years, but my mom and dad are older now and retired on a fixed income.

Mom now seems to be very forgetful and dad says something is wrong with her. He needs to take care of her and just doesn’t have the energy to take care of me too. With tears all around, I joined rescue.

I have a few issues myself, but not too bad. My eyes get dry and gunky. I have some skin allergies, but I take medicine for that. I seem to get ear infections too often. Most of it is just the “regular stuff” that I’m told rescue will fix.

I am very calm and do well around other dogs. I have never been playful, I just tend to ignore them and let them go their way.

I am off to see Dr. Larsen for a good checkup and a spa treatment. I hear they are the best! Then, I will be ready to move on to my new home. I know rescue will find me another great family.

11/8/21 Update:  Daisy Jane missed out on the Bulldog Bonanza yesterday, but she needs more time to regain her strength. She has quite a medicine regimen, seems to still be nervous and doesn’t want to roam at all. She stays sitting on a towel I have on the floor for her.

I can tell she needs comfort and security. This is why we have our lap/nap time together every night for about 3 hours. She can finally decompress and rest easy, knowing someone is watching over her. Now, she can get some much needed beauty sleep.

In just a few days, the bond between us has grown. Whoever is lucky enough to give her a furever home will be blessed.

11/12/21 Update:  Foster Mom is administering my foot treatments. I, hopefully, have to soak my paws only two more weeks. It still hurts when I walk, but it should heal soon.

11/18/21 Update:  Daisy Jane and Smokey Jane have finally settled in quite nicely.  They have let me know that crates aren’t for them.  It’s crazy how these two ladies have demanded me to let them have full range of our home so quickly.  They have the best behavior of any fosters I have previously had.  They sleep all day and sometime comforting each other.  They aren’t a bonded pair, but seem to enjoy each other’s company.  Daisy is still shy and her eyes need work.  Smoky loves to lay on a blanket or under it.

1/7/22 Update:  I have been resting with a passion.  Thank you to everyone for the extra meds that you donated. They have been helping and I’m feeling better.

I’m an old gal and I have a special spot where you can always find me…. I’m the queen of the ottoman! I don’t make many noises, other than snoring. I go outside, but my sight isn’t so good, so sometimes, I need help finding my way back in the house.

I’m looking for a home where I can spend the rest of my golden years.  I need someone who will be diligent with my cleaning/med routine. I’ve gotten use to them all and will let you administer them.

9/23/22 Update: Daisy Jane is living her best life in her foster home. The outside heat just doesn’t do her body justice.  Thank everyone again for donating meds and wipes. She is no longer itching like crazy. She’s still waiting on someone to fall in love with her and live out her golden years with her.
