Lola Peoria

9/8/26 INTRODUCTION ~  Please welcome Lola Peoria to our rescue family.

Lola Peoria has a tale to tell.

She doesn’t call Texas her birthplace. She calls Chicago home. But, like most folks from out of state, she got here as fast as she could!

Lola Peoria is a senior lady (10+ years young) and many years ago, she was a member of Chicago English Bulldog Rescue. In 2017, she was adopted, and it’s clear that this sweet senior has been very well loved and very well cared for.

Last week, Lola Peoria arrived at Dallas Animal Services after her dad passed away. Because she was microchipped, Chicago English Bulldog Rescue was contacted with a message that basically said, “Hey! We’ve got one of your Bulldogs down here in Texas!”

That’s what rescue is all about. Rescues help each other. We may be in different states and have different names, but we all want the same thing: what is best for the dog.

The idea of transporting Lola Peoria 967 miles (or about 14½ hours) back to Chicago just didn’t seem like the best solution for this particular senior lady. Lola Peoria is a big girl, a little older girl, and she seems to find car rides a bit stressful. So, Lola Peoria made a decision.

She’s staying in Texas!

She’s going to find herself a senior Bulldog retirement home, settle into her new life, and officially continue her journey as a Texan.

Well… actually, Lola Peoria heard there was a foster momma named Naomi who has camels, and apparently that sounded much more interesting. 😂🐪

So today, Lola Peoria is headed to Naomi’s home, where she’ll have an important new responsibility: helping maintain order in the camel caravan!

Welcome to Texas, Lola Peoria. We have a feeling your next chapter is going to be one heck of a story. ❤️

And Lola Peoria’s story is also a reminder of just how important foster families are.

We are always looking for more foster families in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Every foster home means another dog who can leave a shelter, get the care and love they need and have a chance at a better life.

We can only help as many dogs as our foster families allow us to help. The more volunteers who open their homes and hearts, the more dogs we can save.

You don’t have to have a perfect home. You don’t have to know everything about Bulldogs. You just have to be willing to open your heart and give a dog a safe place to land.

If you live in the DFW area and have ever thought about fostering, now is the time. Come join us. Together, we can help more dogs who need us. Message us to learn more.

9/19/26 UPDATE ~ We need help finding a great home for Lola Peoria!

Update from the foster momma: Lola Peoria is doing wonderfully in her foster home! She did bring home a little kennel cough from the shelter, but she’s settling in beautifully and showing us more of her sweet personality every day.

This week we discovered that Lola Peoria is a BALL GIRL! She absolutely loves carrying her balls around and squeaking them. It’s adorable!

Even though Lola Peoria is enjoying her golden years, she is still incredibly sweet, smart and tuned in to her people. In fact, she seems to understand just about everything you say!

“Where’s your ball?” — She runs to grab it!
“Do you need to go out?” — Straight to the door!
“Are you a good girl?” — That sweet tail starts wagging!

And now she has discovered one of the very best things about foster life: couch cuddles! Lola Peoria has started climbing up beside us, resting her sweet face in our laps and soaking up all the love and snuggles.

One of the wonderful things about adopting a senior is that what you see is what you get. No puppy destruction, no potty-training stage and no surprise puppy behaviors. Lola Peoria is a sweet old soul who simply wants to be near her people and enjoy life with them.

She likes knowing where you are, but she isn’t anxious or demanding. She’s just a gentle, loving companion who would be thrilled to spend her golden years with someone who will love her as much as she deserves.

Lola is ready to show someone just how special a senior dog can be.
