9/16/26 INTRODUCTION ~ Please welcome Maribone Monroe to our rescue family.
Maribone Monroe’s story is a common one for us. It appears she was bred, used and then discarded when she was no longer needed. She found herself in a local shelter.
In her past, she may have been measured by what she could produce, but we know Maribone Monroe is so much more than that. She is a sweet, lovable girl who deserves to be cherished simply for being exactly who she is.
And who she is happens to include the most wonderfully ridiculous ears. 😂
Most of the time, Maribone Monroe’s ears are perfectly content to do their own thing. But every now and then, they decide it’s time to report for duty. And when those ears go up, they are UP. Straight up. Fully erect. Absolutely committed. It’s almost as if they’re trying to make sure no one misses a single thing she has to say. And honestly, we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Thankfully, the chapter of Maribone Monroe’s life where she was treated as disposable is over.
Now she gets to experience the simple pleasures she should have known all along: stretching out in a sunny spot, snoring without a care in the world, getting excited when someone walks through the door and discovering that a human hand can mean a treat, instead of a demand. For the first time, Maribone Monroe gets to be valued for the dog she is, not for what anyone expects from her.
At around 5 years old and a whopping 38 pounds, Maribone Monroe has plenty of life ahead of her. And we intend for the rest of it to be filled with love, comfort and people who think those crazy ears are just as wonderful as we do.
Now it’s Maribone Monroe’s turn to be cherished. ❤️

11/2/26 UPDATE ~ We’re looking to find a great family for Maribone Monroe! From her foster momma: Maribone Monroe is looking for a family who understands her, appreciates her big personality and is willing to be patient with her demands. If you met her at Bull-O-Ween, you already know what a character she is! If you didn’t, well, you definitely missed out!
Maribone is a pretty vocal girl, and her voice box is just a little different. She has her own unique way of expressing herself, and wherever she goes, she’s sure to bring laughter and entertainment along with her.
She recently went camping for the first time and proved to be the perfect little camping buddy! She loved being part of the adventure. One thing potential adopters should know is that while she is friendly with small children, she does have a tendency to chase and nip when little ones are running around. It seems almost as though she’s trying to herd or correct them and get them to stop. Because of this, a home with older, dog-savvy children or adults may be the better fit.
Maribone Monroe is an absolute doll, and her personality is simply the best! She does have some weakness in her back end and occasionally loses a bit of strength or coordination. Her radiographs have all appeared normal. It’s possible that limited space and restricted opportunities for movement in her previous environment contributed to some muscle weakness, but it certainly hasn’t stopped her from enjoying life!
She receives joint supplements and plenty of opportunities to stay active, and we’re already seeing improvement.
Maribone is a one-of-a-kind girl with a whole lot of personality, plenty to say, and so much love to bring to the right family. She may come with a few quirks, but those quirks are part of what makes her so special. She’s looking for someone who will embrace her individuality, give her a little patience and love her for exactly who she is!
