“Get a Bulldog,” they said. “They are cute, cuddly and don’t get very big,” they said. “Get a Bulldog, they just lay around and don’t move much.” Ooops.
My name is Maximo, or you can just call me Max. My family got me when I was a puppy, thinking all those things were true. I am now 13 months old and weigh 75 pounds. I can run and jump like a gazelle.
Dad, mom and four small children were all living in a very small house—with me. They said it was too much to handle. I’m so big and strong ~ bigger and stronger than most of the kids. They realized I needed more space to run and play. They understood I need a family who knows what to expect from a still growing Bulldog.
With tears all around, they delivered me to a rescue volunteer. I am at the vet clinic now and there are Bulldogs everywhere. I have not seen one since I was a puppy!
I get along with other dogs and I am in pretty good health. Somebody said I was a “heavy breather,” whatever that means. Dr. Larsen said she would check me out to make sure I’m ready for my next chapter. I can’t wait to meet my new family and live in a home that will give me plenty of room to play. Oh, and I do like balls and chew toys!
3/2/21 Update: I picked up Maximo Saturday morning from Pucketts….always love it there. This guy is a 75# puppy with the energy of the energizer bunny!!! OMG…but he is so incredibly sweet. He has LOTS to learn….personal space….manners….socks, remote, slippers…….really anything he can get ahold of or on…beds..couches…tables….he just has no boundaries. He’s a bit calmer today and he’s smart…so he’ll learn. He’s just too cute and you just want to smush and kiss that face!
