Ruby Braveheart

9/6/26 IINTRODUCTION ~  Please welcome Ruby Braveheart to our rescue family.

She has the kind of soulful eyes that stop you in your tracks. The kind that seem to look straight into your soul.

Ruby Braveheart is just 4 years old, but she’s faced too many heartbreaks already. First, her dad went to jail. Then her mom. And then Ruby Braveheart was left behind when no one else in the family wanted her.

She was living outside in a backyard, exposed to the heat, covered in fleas and flies, and suffering from a vaginal prolapse the size of a small cantaloupe. She was in unimaginable discomfort and desperately needed someone to step in.

Thankfully, someone did.

The sheriff made sure Ruby left that backyard and got to a veterinary clinic. From there, she traveled 251 miles—3 hours and 47 minutes—to a rescue that was waiting for her: ours.

When she arrived today, we were told her prolapse is about one-third of its original size. She is now safe, receiving care and surrounded by people determined to give her the future she deserves.

We’re incredibly grateful to the veterinary team who cared for Ruby and to the veterinarian who took the time, over a holiday weekend, to drive her to safety.

Ruby Braveheart’s story isn’t over. In fact, her new story is just beginning.

And her recovery will come with veterinary bills. Your North Texas Giving Day donation can help cover Ruby Braveheart’s care and give more Bulldogs like her the second chances they desperately need.

Help us write Ruby’s next chapter.

Ruby Braveheart, welcome to rescue. We won’t let you down.

10/3/26 UPDATE ~ From Ruby Braveheart’s foster momma: This poor girl has been through so much. Between the horrible prolapse and then being left in that condition when both of her owners went to jail, I can only imagine how scared and uncomfortable she must have been. She probably truly felt like she was going to die.

I’ve only had her for a few days, but you can already see a change in her eyes. It’s almost like she knows she’s safe now. She is SUCH a sweet girl. She’ll come up to you and rub her whole body against you just asking for affection. She really just wants to be loved.

She’s doing amazing in the house. She sleeps on the couch, and I already trust her enough to be left out when we’re not home and doing our normal routine. She absolutely loves the kids and gets along great with my two Frenchies. She also has the most beautiful coat, and surprisingly she really doesn’t shed much at all!

The only thing I’ve noticed so far is a little separation anxiety, which honestly makes sense considering everything she’s been through. When we left to pick the kids up from school the other day, she barked the entire time and was trying pretty hard to get out of the kennel. So that’s something I’ll keep working on with her as she settles in and realizes that when we leave, we’re always coming back.

Overall, she is just an incredibly sweet, affectionate girl. For only being here a few days, she’s already settling in so well. I think once she realizes this chapter of her life is behind her, she’s going to absolutely blossom.

10/11/26 UPDATE ~ From Ruby Braveheart’s foster momma: Our family has come to learn Ruby‘s personality and exactly what she needs this past week and a half with her. She is 100% a Velcro dog, And she will protest herself if she needs you to sit by her on the couch.

This girl will be a dog that someone can take anywhere and she will just sit right by their side. She goes into my garage gym and just sits there as my new gym partner. The door is wide open, and she has no want or desire to wander.

She also does so well on a leash. I bet you could walk her around without one. My one and a half year-old daughter even walked her.

She is extremely mellow and certified stubborn Bulldog. Most nights I have to pick her up to take her outside to go potty. If she could glue herself to the couch, she would.

10/25/26 UPDATE ~ From the foster momma: Ruby Braveheart has finally come out of her shell! She is a spunky girl and does like to play with her Frenchie brothers… on her own terms.

I think she could take a home with or without other dogs. I think she doesn’t care, as long as she has her person she can be glued to. She would be the PERFECT dog for someone who wants a dog they can take everywhere with them. She is extremely well behaved in public and on a leash.

Other than being my new side kick, she tends to be a bit lazy. Most nights before bed, I have to really beg her to go outside for one last potty. She goes then heads straight into the kennel for bedtime.

I am super excited to get this girl into her next home because I know her next family will fall absolutely in love with her!
