Ziggy has been adopted! Charles and Rene waited patiently to meet Ziggy. After reading Ziggy’s bio, they felt a connection. They knew “THEY” were the ones for Ziggy. It was a journey for them to come and meet Ziggy, but they made it happen. Not just one trip, but two. It was a glorious adoption. As tears flowed, I knew in my heart Ziggy will always be loved for the precious little big boy he is. Ziggy will be “just’a swinging” in Northeast Texas.
I left the shelter with a volunteer. She picked me up and held me tight. She told me I was beautiful. She was not afraid to look at me, like some people.
I am not even a year old. I was sold as a cute, fat puppy and everyone wanted to hold me. But this is how I look today.
Yesterday, I was returned to the breeder. I have two cherry eyes and I feel like my skin is on fire. My hair is falling out and scabs cover my skin.
Yesterday, I was taken to the shelter.
Yesterday, the shelter called rescue and they came for me and today is the happiest day of my life.
Today I was rescued and I will never, ever again look or feel this way.
The rescue lady named me Ziggy Marley and she is my friend.
5/6/22 Update: Good morning! Bark, bark, bark! Ziggy Marley will be on his way to Dr. Larsen shortly and he is so ready! He is a good boy who just wants to be by your side (so much so, that it’s hard to get a good pic or video of him). When he is not by your side, he let’s you know that he is still there-bark, bark, bark! He loves food and other dogs, too. I am so happy that he will be receiving the care he deserves and look forward to seeing this little guy blossom!
6/21/22 Update: Today was my freedom day ~ I walked out of the vet clinic and into a foster home. Adios, amigos! It was great at the vet clinic, but now I am looking for my forever family!
Can you see all my fur? It is all over my body! It is wonderful. There is still a few thin places, but compared to what I had, this is like enough fur to braid!
I still have to have a bath twice a week. No problem.
And I still need eye meds. No problem.
So now it’s time to find me a forever family. I need a family who will take me the magic window, one who wants to play with me and one that will love me forever!
6/28/22 Update: Hey man! What is going on here? I just got to my new foster digs and before I could even get out of the car, Fosrer Mom turns around and says, “Wait, you can’t get out yet. I got something for you.”
Wow. I didn’t see this one coming.
I am thinking maybe a snack, a bone, anything but this. Well, I guess it’s OK. I do look pretty cute.
From the foster momma: Ziggy is a spirited 1-year-old. He still has a little puppy-tude in him. He is on eye meds, but not for long. We are giving Ziggy medicated baths twice weekly. That will only be for another couple of weeks. Ziggy is making great progress and I will keep you posted. Ziggy is available for adoption!
7/4/22 Update: Ziggy is a very playful 1-year-old who is still all about the puppy antics. He is funny to watch wrestle. Ziggy’s WWE smackdown name is “Ziggy MADCAPPER Marley.”
He is happy little guy. He loves and gets along with the other fur babies until someone grrrrrrs at him and he understands. This is especially true during din-din time. Our ol’ man grrrrr’ed at him and he quickly understood the importance of distance and “stay out of my food.”
We took a ride to Houston and he was a great passenger. At least I thought so, but the other two Bulldogs didn’t. Ziggy was just wanting to have fun with them.
We’re still working on potty training. He’s had some oopsies in the house but no problem. He’s improving.
I believe Ziggy should always have another fur playmate. He tends to want to play and just hang around his fur friends.
Ziggy’s hair is growing back nicely. His eyes are still needing drops, but not for long. Ziggy is ready and available to be adopted!
7/29/22 Update: Ziggy had a great time at our last Bulldog Bonanza! He was able to conquer the agility A-frame.
Ziggy loved the attention and really loved being around other fur babies like himself. He didn’t get into anyone’s space and if he did, he would just walk away. He doesn’t like trouble, but he is mischievous when he can’t get his fur foster siblings to play.
For example, Ziggy plays hide and seek with the remote, one shoe, your keys, a sock. It seems as if what’s yours is HIS.
Ziggy is more into playing and always looking for someone to wrestle with. He enjoys fetching the ball & bringing it back to you for kisses and belly rubs. He is very playful and friendly.
We are still working on potty training and jumping up on people. We are almost there, but for this 1-year-old, it’s just taking a little longer. Ziggy would rather play.
8/6/22 Update: Hello All. Ziggy here checking in. Foster mom says I need to own it! Stop letting my foster sister be a menace and claiming all my toys. To stand up for myself. I’m trying really really hard to do that, but You see she’s my wrestling buddy. I am a nice guy and I believing in sharing but today I am owning this new toy foster mom got me.
If you have been following me, you will know that I am the bigger brown one with rolls who is playing nice and allowing the menace to lead me.
8/12/22 Update: Last week, Ziggy went in to have his lower eyelids reconstructed. Currently, he has stitches around his eyes. Both lower eyelids were still stretched out after recovering from his cherry eye surgery in both eyes. He had ectropion, a condition in which the eyelids turn outward.
Ziggy is healing just fine. His stitches will be removed in the coming week.
The reason for the many inflatable collars, other than his stitches, is that he loves to saturate his face in the water bowl…. which means his collar often gets soaking wet. The water just falls out of his jowls and drips all over the floor. We can always find him…. just follow the wet paw prints. LOL!
Surgery didn’t keep him down, though. He is still up for a good wrestling match and looking for his next opponent.
Ziggy Marley is just loveable. He gets along with everyone and is such a teddy bear.
8/20/22 Update: Ziggy Marley got his stitches removed Tuesday and he looks great. Woohoo! Thank you, Dr. Leah.
Today, Ziggy is being super playful. He makes a game out of his tennis ball getting lodged between the floor and cabinets. He loves it because it’s hard for his bear paws to pull the ball out. He will run the ball from one end to the other. He can really entertain himself.
In the video, he turns around, as if he is saying, “What are you looking at? My butt?” He is too funny.
8/31/22 Update: Ziggy Marley is such a trooper when comes to getting his medicated Baths twice a week.
His hair is growing back wonderfully but There are some small areas that might not get any hair, but you can’t really tell.
Well, these medicated baths you are to leave the shampoo on for 10 minutes. During those 10 minutes he tries to hide. Ziggy seems to think you can’t find him or see him when he tries to hide. He is just too precious.
You can tell by the pictures he doesn’t really do a good job of hiding AND WE SEE YOU ZIGGY! Lol
10/13/22 Update: FM writes: We are out of town and our love man Ziggy love’s company. He will eventually fall asleep on top of his Foster brother.
He is a snuggle bug with his foster Big Bro Baby Bentley- in this pic their suite is being cleaned.
ZIGGY man is in his own suite recovering from a lil injury to his hind leg (played too hard) but he gets daily visits from his foster bro who is a neighbor.
Ziggy is super friendly, sweet to others and loves to play. He is on the husky side. Not fat but just a lil husky. He has some rolls on his back side that we just think are too cute.
