We are deeply saddened to announce that sweet Sandy crossed the Rainbow Bridge this morning.  Mary and David are sad beyond belief. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.  Sandy was a super special pup, and they loved her dearly.

Sandy has ben adopted by a wonderful furever family!

Welcome Sandy into Rescue. She has her problems, but deserves a wonderful home. She is polka-dotted, deaf, smart, and adventurous bully! (2/15/16) She knows sign language and is as cute as can be.

I took her out behind the office and this little chunk was great to walk but once we played she wanted to jog and it was so cute!! Very thankful for the attention

2/18/16 Update:  Sandy has left the clinic and is now with her new foster family. Stay tuned for regular updates on this sweet girl.

3/6/16 Update:  You would not realize she is deaf. She is as sharp as a tack and doesn’t miss a beat. This sweet girl talks, shakes hands and does a high five! She knows many basic commands and it will not be difficult to show someone the commands because they are similar to regular training commands except Sandy cannot hear but keeps her eyes fixated on you. A little flashlight helps to draw her attention. She is our first foster girl, but we have a 3 year old bully, Bentley, who is also deaf. Sometimes she is like a spoiled toddler, but then she wants to please you and do what she can to get your love and acceptance. This attitude makes her training much easier. I know she would prefer to be our only dog, but we have been working with her on sharing that love and attention. Yes, we do lots of group hugs with her and group kisses and group everything.

Sandy is housetrained and will notify you either by standing at the door or grunting at you while she waits. If she is having trouble getting your attention, she will come to you and start grunting and doing a tap dance around you. She is crate trained and leash trained.

She can be a little sneak and get on the furniture when you are not in the room, or sneak into the pantry to look around. Sandy cuddles, likes sitting on the floor or in her bed. She does well with people and wants to interact with everyone. She communicates well even though she cannot hear. We are going to try doggy daycare next week to see how she gets along with others.

She would make a wonderful friend to someone who understands her special needs and is willing to work with her.

3/13/16 Update: Our foster girl surprises us every day. We get to know her more and more each day ~ her likes and dislikes. She likes wearing her outfits, but they can come off immediately for a Wrestlemania Smackdown! She can hold her own.

We found out she also likes to watch TV. We noticed this over the weekend when she was watching one of the debates in her bunny ears. She cracks us up.

3/27/16 Update:  Woohoo! Foster sweetheart Sandy turned 6! She was the perfect lil princess, not the snippy little QUEEN that she normally is. She gladly shared her day with her foster brothers because it was ALL about her. She smiles at the camera. She’s a little jealous at times, but we are working on it.

Recently, we boarded Sandy and her foster bro Bentley together. Well, we got that dreaded CALL any foster parent/parent doesn’t want to get: “your kid doesn’t play well with others.” Sandy showed signs of possession toward Bentley and was annoyed with others… but she is sweet and loves to sleep and snore zzzz. Well, DUH. That is who she is. It was truly her first time, at least with us, to deal with a large group of furry friends, so all is forgiven and they are willing to work with Sandy (us) for a smoother transition. Hooray! Good folks!

3/28/16 Update:  Sandy had a great week. She is such a pleaser ~ she hates to disappoint. Sweet Sandy is the little “Queen” she wants to be. She loves attention and loves giving kisses. This lil darling wants to be close at all times. Sandy loves car rides, if she knows you’re leaving, she will beat you to the car door (she’s also known to hijack other cars). Sandy just wants to be with you, and this makes her a great loving fur baby to have. Sandy will be at our event at Mutts Canine Cantina on April 3.

4/10/16 Update:  O gosh ~ where do I start with this sweet big gal. Every week has been a positive week with her. Sandy’s attitude is just great. At this time, we are working on her weight, as well as trying to get her hair to grow on her flanks and mid back. Sandy is a sweetheart; she loves to love and loves to eat. In either order. This sweet girl can’t get enough attention

6/20/16 Update:  Sweet Sandy is just a toot.  Since we first got Sandy we have been working on her weight; it’s one of those she looks like she lost weight (it only shifted from one place to another) but the scale reads otherwise.   Sandy loves people; found out recently she enjoys kids (tested her with my nieces 14 month old-don’t be judging he he).  She’s loving and she follows you wherever you go especially in the kitchen, dining table, while cooking hoping for that special morsel to hit the floor or near the table.  Sweet Sandy doesn’t believe in the 3 second rule its who can get to it the fastest and she is fast.  One thing for sure she is always up and ready for her daily walks; when walking we use the Martingale collar.  It’s the best control collar for both our no neck bully’s (we use this collar only when we go out with them; it’s not her regular collar)  Ok guys gotta share this- Sandy has had a relapse in her manners.  O gee… she is a sweetheart but as of now she has been banned from doggie daycare.  Not just 1 but 2.  I thought we had this beat “aggression to other fur friends” but since we don’t send her to doggie daycare much; we have back relapsed.  No worries we are working on this.. it’s just that she has been the one and only before coming to us but she will get her game back. OOPS!! One more thing:  this sweet little big girl catches fly’s with her mouth!!  No joke – She is fast.  I don’t mean her short stubby little legs but her “Jackie Chan/Jet Li” neck movements!  Girl is quick.   Its hard to stop her from doing this as well as hard for me to get her to give it back to me (yes I try with finger in her mouth for her to throw it up).  Little POOTY!!!

Our sweet foster girl Sandy is just a little toot. She keeps us on our toes – I can assure you her actions are of a rebellious teenager (well, maybe our teens).

7/13/16 Update:  Being a deaf Bulldog has not stopped this lil’ girl – she is so stinking smart and sassy. Sweet Sandy is a funny little trickster-sneakster. This inventive, creative little soul has the best MANIAC, obsessive personality ever. Please take these AWESOME AMAZING attributes of Sandy as positive. Sandy has broken the mold of handicapped fur babies. She isn’t limited or has ever allowed herself to be. Our sweet foster girl Sandy has always shown us that she loves and wants to be loved. Happy Hump Day, National French Fry Day and National Beans ‘n’ Franks Day! Sandy is celebrating all of them.

8/30/16 Update:  Our Sweet foster girl Sandy has been doing what she loves best and that is being sassy, lovable, pushy, food gobbler, smarty pants, morning alarm clock 5:21 or 6:42 (don’t know how she does it), baiting her foster brothers and sisters with a bone, stare downs with her foster siblings only to get a poke on top of her rump or her nawgin (since our big girl is deaf I need to draw her attention off her fur siblings). She is a very happy girl even with some distractions. Our sweet girl Sandy has actually gone through a slight transformation. She has gone from being aggressive towards her fur siblings (she’s Mama “MADEA) to these subliminal changes. It’s a lil questionable because this girl always has her motives (hehe) but it does make foster momma proud. Sandy needs to be with a furever family where she is the one and only for your attention but our sweet girl can get along with other fur siblings but it will just take some time and patience for her to cozy up to another fur friend.

Well our Bull-O-Ween event is coming up and Sweet Sandy is trying on costumes. She is getting ready early. I hope you enjoy her pics (I think she can pull off a Richard Simmons look crazy curly wig and work out outfit)
