Message from Dahlia’s forever family
We are heartbroken to share that we lost our precious Dahlia suddenly to aggressive cancer on February 4.
We adopted Dahlia in 2019 and not only was she our first bulldog, but also our first rescue. Dahlia, DD, Big Mama, Squish Face was PERFECT. Even though we only had two years to spoil her, it felt like she was always a part of our family. She was wonderfully lazy, beautifully stubborn, and just an all around incredible bulldog. Dahlia loved to eat, nap on our couch, and give high fives for meatball treats! She hated thunderstorms, anything near her water bowl, and our Roomba! During her time with us Dahlia saw the beach in Florida, rode a boat in Alabama, ate barbecue in Memphis, and even toured a college campus in Arkansas! We adored her and can only hope we gave her as much happiness as she gave our family.
We are BLESSED to be a part of Lonestar Bulldog Rescue and are so thankful that they chose us to be Dahlia’s family. We are forever changed for the better. Dahlia was adored and we miss her every day.
Today was the day Dahlia has been dreaming about. She got up early, put on her most beautiful dress, packed her bags and said, “Let’s go, Foster Mom and Dad!” Dahlia met her new family on Friday and Cupid’s arrow struck instantly. She will have an awesome mom and dad, PLUS two big skin brothers, PLUS a beautiful fur sister, Hattie.
This girl is taking a huge piece of our hearts with her, but we couldn’t have picked a better family for her. Enjoy your amazing new life beautiful, Dahlia!
Let me tell you about my name: Dahlia is a beautiful flower. Some call it stunning and unique. It’s described as a plump and firm tuberous. Plump and firm… well, that may describe me too. Now you may wonder why I am here today. I lived on a ranch and I lived with llamas and alpacas, and every day someone was trying to spit on me! Yes, you read that right. Those things are spitters! If it was meal time on the ranch and they saw you looking at their food, or getting close to it, you better run because they were fixing to spit on you!
Because I am a little plump, it was hard for me to get away when the spitting started because they can spit 10 feet! Well, enough about them. Let me tell you about me. I am 5 years old, I love everyone with fur or feathers and I also lived with chickens and cats. They minded their own business and I never chased them. I just watched them watch me! I asked my best friend Paris if she wanted to move from the ranch. She lifted her paw and said “please, take me.” This was because there was a rumor the ranch was adding more spitters in the weeks ahead.
So, here I am, covered in spittle, but I’m going to take a shower, write Santa a letter so he will know I have a new address and ask Santa to please bring me a family without llamas and alpacas or anything that spits! P.S. My mama also called me Momma D., and you can call me that too. When I hear Dahlia or Momma D., I will come running , or maybe just walk fast … especially if I see a treat or a leash. I love them both!
12/17/18 Update: Miss Dahlia moved in with us this weekend and we feel like we hit the jackpot. She is such a happy girl and all she wants is love from her humans. All you have to do is look at her and her little crooked tail starts wiggling like crazy. I keep telling her she is going to wiggle her little bum right off soon. Dahlia has found how amazing it is to sit on the couch and get love. I think that’s her favorite thing so far.
12/21/18 Update: Dahlia is such an amazing girl. Just sitting on the couch with you makes her happy. She just likes to go with the flow. Dahlia has spent the weekend chilling on the couch and soaking up the sun. She would love nothing more than to find her forever family. Her only requests are that they have a comfy couch and love to snuggle.
1/3/19 Update: My name is Dahlia and I have a couch addiction. I have no desire to cure this addiction, so all I really need is a new family who will share their couch with me. If that family is yours, I promise to snuggle you and keep you warm on there.
1/29/19 Update: Dahlia had a great weekend. She went and saw all her friends at the vet. She also got to get dressed up for a photo shoot. She napped in the car, ate chicken nuggets and got loved on. This girl really is amazing and she just loves everyone and everything (well not so much getting her nails trimmed).
