We’re saddened to hear of the loss of alumnus Dallas. He was a cherished family member and his presence will truly be missed.
From his momma: Our precious Dallas crossed the Rainbow Bridge on July 31, 2023. He was 10 1/2 years old. He had been with us since he was 9 months old, thanks to the wonderful Dianne at Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue.
On our application all those years ago, we described the loss of our Bulldog, Dudley, and shared that our house and our hearts were empty. Dianne helped us through the application process. On the big day, we met at the casino in Shreveport for our introduction to a rambunctious 9-month-old pup we had only seen through photos. It was a leap of faith for all of us. I know we all say it, but he was the best dog in the world for us.
He gave us such joy and unconditional love, and we spoiled him shamelessly. He was our ‘son’ in every way. We bought a king-sized bed to share with him, and he trained us to cater to his every need and want. Our house and our hearts were full.
After a cancer diagnosis in November, we were devastated, but we committed to give Dallas his best life for as long as he wanted it.
I’m happy to say we had eight good months with him with careful monitoring and lots of pampering. Cheeseburgers were added to his diet, and I confess, we quit worrying about treatments and vet visits. We focused on maintaining a pain-free and happy life.
And he had that, until the day he showed us he was tired, uncomfortable and ready for peace. We were able to give him that, sitting with him to the end, ever-grateful for all he has given us.
We aren’t quite ready yet, but one day very soon, we will be reaching out to Dianne again to make a perfect match. We still have a lot of love to give.
