We are so sad to announce the passing of Elvira. She was so sweet and got adopted with Paisley who is missing her buddy.
So painful to lose another LSBRG alum. Please remember her family at this difficult time. We will meet again at the Rainbow Bridge.
Eric and Melinda fell in love with both Elvira and Paisley Marie when they saw them playing together.
The came out to meet the dogs and knew after a little play time that it would be a great fit.
Both dogs have trouble “posing” for selfies, so these are the best ones Eric could get of Melinda with Elvira and Paisley Marie.
Paisley Marie’s foster mom, Melissa, and I are so excited for both of them, although they will be missed. They are both truly sweet pups!
Thank you to Eric and Melinda for opening their hearts to both of them! They are matches made in heaven!
Bulldog friends it has been a long time coming for me. I have been waiting for a bit to join rescue.
I waited at the shelter since the first of October for the people that lost me to find me, but as you can see they never did. And that is ok because I was tired of having babies for them. And my eye’s? My eye’s hurt. All the time! I guess I did not need them to be able to breed.
When my shelter friends let me know I was leaving for rescue, that was the happiest day of my life. I thought finally I was going to get the medical care I needed. I jumped up in the SUV and never looked back. I am going to have my eyes fixed, get spayed, eat a lot of great food and then I am going to find a family who deserves a beautiful lady like me!
I named myself Elvira because I love that song. So, sing it with me, “Elvira, Elvira, my hearts on fire for Elvira. Eyes that look like heaven, lips like cherry wine, that girl can sure make my little light shine.”
Sing it people, loud and proud because I am Elvira, yesterday was my freedom day and the whole world is waiting to see the new me!
12/21/23 Update: So, this 3 year old beauty came to me on Monday – Elvira is her name and there is no darkness in her…only on the outside.
She is the sweetest little thing…loves cuddles and does not bother the resident curmudgeon, which works for me. She is great about going outside though she has peed on some beds…that could be more about marking them for herself.
She is sweet and petite and, despite having been at the shelter since October, she has no hesitation about trusting and loving me. She does have dry eyes so will require medication on a daily basis but she is a champ about letting me administer the drops.
And guess what, she can be yours if you get your applications in!
You won’t be sorry.
12/29/23 Update: Poor Elvira…. On Christmas Eve, she gave me the stare down, letting me know what was expected from Santa.
On Christmas Day, she was thrilled to get her Rudolph toy, but still wondered, “Why no family”?
Elvira is a playful and fun little girl. She would do well with a furry playmate as she likes to play, given the opportunity.
While she is great about going potty outside, she may anoint her bedding, if she does not get out when needed.
She is a sweet young lady who just wants to be loved on by YOU!
1/4/24 Update: I kept giving Foster Mom the eyeball, waiting for this BIG celebration she promised me,
What I did not know (nor did I like) was the noise outside from the fireworks… the good news is that Foster Mom let me up on the bed so I could relax!
I am looking forward to finding my family in 2024. And maybe a furry friend to play with? Certainly someone willing to love me, pet me and stare into my adorable face.
That is my resolution: a family in 2024. Is your resolution to find a Bulldog? Maybe we could be a match!
1/16/24 Update: Foster Mom tried to con me in to thinking sunshine = warmth. What happened to the beautiful, sunny, warm Saturday weather we had? That’s walking weather!
Yesterday, I tried to hide between my ceramic friends to avoid going out in the tundra. Who is she kidding?
I ran out to pee and ran back in.
Foster Mom knows I am a good girl, though. I just pee in the doggy beds if I don’t want to get up.
I am so sweet – I just want love and cuddles and will get along with anyone. I just want a playmate, please.
2/9/24 Update: Elvira had a great time at the Bulldog Bonanza yesterday at Hollywood Feed in Allen. She met so many dogs, and had so many adults and kids loving on her.
She came home, wrote in her diary (doggery) about how everyone pet her and rubbed her belly, and that it was her best day ever.
Then she promptly crashed for the night as she was exhausted from hours of having to be so cute.
Hope you got to meet her too!
2/16/24 Update: Ms. Elvira did not like that it was the resident Bulldog’s birthday and she had to be in her crate while we gave alumnus Colt his birthday treat.
She was allowed out as soon as he finished and, have no fear, she got plenty of treats as well!
She really is a sweetheart and she’d make the best valentine snuggler!
2/23/24 Update: Elvira thinks she is on a tropical vacation as soon as the sun is out. Her happiest place is right in the rays.
I actually caught her belly up after a little while… happy as can be.
Only thing that would make her happier is being a part of YOUR family!
3/5/24 Update: It was so great to visit with you yesterday at the North Texas Irish Festival. I can never pass up an opportunity for some loving and petting and made sure that FM got pulled all around so that I could meet as many people “fans” as possible.
I understand that not everyone is a “fan” but, if you look at me, you have to pet me (my rules) so I am often found eying strangers or following unsuspecting suckers people in order to achieve maximum love.
You can see how bright and cheery I am at the show but FM had to share the “after” pic once I got home.
It is exhausting getting all that love. XO, Elvira
3/19/24 Update: The lovely Elvia pretended to be Irish in hopes of scoring some Irish soda bread. Not likely, but it is tough to ignore that adorable face.
I hate to jinx us, but Elvira seems to be doing better with her pottying. She will still go in the house if no one is there to let her out when needed, but she has had 100% success in going on the pads rather than in a bed (hallelujah).
She has even started to go to the door a few times and, when I let her out, she is a champ about doing her business. This is a big step for her so I keep my fingers crossed that she will continue to do well!
3/29/24 Update: I have been noticing that Elvira is going to the back door more often, which lets me know she needs to do her business (most of the time).
Rather than just walk over to a pad and squat, when I am sitting in the room with her, she goes and stands at the door.
This gives me hope that perhaps a doggy door would help with consistency for her as she is such a “pleaser” – trying to do what’s right in her own way.
I am so proud of her and know that she would be a welcome addition to any loving family. And she’s eagerly awaiting to find them!
4/9/24 Update: Elvira had a great time at yesterday’s PIzza Paw-ty. She met lots of nice people who loved on her and told her how pretty she is (and they are right!). It was hot outside so we stayed mostly on the patio.
When we got home, she was pooped! But she quickly popped up when I told her it was FINALLY time for her meatball! She was a happy camper.
Hope you got to meet her and here’s hoping you may be her perfect match!
5/1/24 Update: This week, Elvira and her alumnus brother, Colt, are vacationing at the Shew Casa with our gang and having a blast!
Elvira is a bundle of sweetness who gets along perfectly with all our dogs and is sooooo curious about the resident cat.
She and our foster dog, Paisley Marie, are now besties and this weekend, we will be making matching BFF bracelets (purple, of course)!
Elvira is smart, responsive and quick to learn. She has amazed us with her ability to just join the crew and make it her own place. She picked out her favorite chair and even sleeps in it all night. She is also doing well with going potty outside.
She and Paisley Marie play and nap repeatedly all day and are so funny to watch. Paisley Marie has surprised me by immediately liking her and welcoming her to our house. She even lets her chew her bone collection! Paisley Marie has had a reputation for being naughty during meet and greets, but I think the key may be doing them on her home turf. She is growing up! And being extra nice to her buddy, Colt – no jumping, no biting, noanything but good vibes. We keep asking ourselves, “Where’s our Paisley Marie?” LOL! Stay tuned for more pics of our new dynamic duo!
5/22/24 Update: “Why bother with the stress if you can chill out and wait for belly rubs to come to you?” ~ foster girl Elvia
From her foster momma: She is such a sweet girl. She’s pending a meet and greet and just hoping for the best. Summer is forever family time and she is more than ready!
