Gracie Rae

We regret to announce that Gracie Rae recently crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Run free sweet gal.

A really sweet volunteer named Bobbi and her son, Justice, came and met me at the vet’s office. Ms. Heather took me outside in the sunshine to meet them. It was an instant connection. And, of course, I was on my best behavior! I was hoping this was my chance to bust outta there! Now, don’t get me wrong ~ everyone at the vet’s office is really nice and I got great care. However, there is just nothing like a home and a family to us Bulldogs!

I was almost in Ms. Bobbi’s lap snorting and cooing at her. All of the sudden, she paused from talking to me and petting me. I started to hold my breath and cross my paws, but let’s be real, that wasn’t going to happen. I’m too wide for crossing paws, and I was panting way too much for holding my breath! I did the next best thing …. I eavesdropped, Bulldog-style. You know where we pretend to ignore you, and turn our head only giving you a side eye? Just then I heard Ms. Bobbi say, “I love her! We will take her home and shower her with love!” I was so excited I could barely hold it in!

Just like that she went from Ms. Bobbi to “Foster Mom!” Foster Mom told me I won the foster home lottery. She told me how Bulldogs are her passion! She said she needed to have a big back surgery, but wanted to still help the Bulldogs. She told rescue that if she could get a low-maintenance Bulldog, she would still foster a dog.

Foster Mom also explained how the need for homes for Bulldogs is a BIG ONE! She said there are so many Bulldogs that need homes. She also told me stories on the drive home about sisters and brothers I’d get to meet when we got there. She told me if I was nice and a good girl, I would get to play with them. Well, I was on my BEST behavior, so I got to play. I even got to get up on the couch!

Foster Mom even made my kennel perfect for me. A nice cozy thick pad to sleep on, a fresh clean blanket, and she even got me my own little personal fan that clips on my kennel and gives me the perfect amount of air. That just felt so amazing! When I got in there, I almost fell asleep before Foster Mom even got the door closed. I was pooped from the big day, and it was just so cozy, too!

As I slipped off into dreamland with an attitude of gratitude for foster families; I also prayed that all my Bulldog friends hit the “Foster Home Lottery.”
