Herc Howard

Herc Howard

It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to foster boy Herc Howard.

When Dr. Larsen performed surgery to remove a lump on his chest last week, she discovered that his kidneys were covered in a cancerous tumor.

After careful consideration, the kindest choice was to let him go peacefully while he was under anesthesia, as removing the tumor would have meant losing his kidneys and an immediate loss of life.

While Herc Howard’s time with us was brief, his spirit will forever be cherished. Run free, Herc. You will always have a place in our hearts.

At 7 years old, Herc Howard never imagined a move in his future.

But life changed when a new baby was born, and the challenges of everyday life became too much for his family.

Herc had always been loved, and that’s all he ever wanted. So, with his backpack, bones, balls, dog food, and his bed, he set out for rescue in search of a family who would continue to shower him with love.

Herc is a gentle soul who loves other dogs, kids, and everyone he meets.

He’s adjusting well, slowly walking through the house, looking for familiar sights to make him feel comfortable and at home.

Herc Howard will be seeing Dr. Larsen soon to determine if he needs entropion surgery on both eyes. After that, Herc will be ready and eager to find a family to enjoy his golden years with—a family who will appreciate all the love and joy he has to offer.

2/13/25 Update:  At 7 years old, Herc Howard, the most Interesting Bulldog in the world, has mastered the art of being the perfect gentleman. He’s calm, gentle, and effortlessly charming. He’s the kind of dog who makes you feel like you’ve known him forever—because that’s just who he is.

Herc Howard blends beautifully with other dogs, adores kids, and greets everyone with a heart full of love. He moves through life at his own peaceful pace, taking in the world with quiet curiosity. And, as a bonus, he has a rare and impressive skill—he can roll his tongue. Not every Bulldog can say that!

Fully potty trained and well-mannered, Herc Howard is on the lookout for a  home where he can settle in, relax, and enjoy his golden years surrounded by love. He doesn’t ask for much—just a cozy spot, a few good belly rubs, and a family who will adore him as much as he’ll adore them.
