“If the kindest souls were rewarded with the longest lives, dogs would outlive us all.”
With broken hearts, we want to share the loss of May Belle, a sweet Bulldog who came to us searching for love and a second chance. We had hoped to heal her and find her the forever home she so deeply deserved, but sometimes the fight is more than we can win.
When May Belle entered our care, we did everything we could to give her the best possible chance. She had already endured so much, and we wanted to be her safe haven, her future. But during surgery, our worst fears were confirmed: the cancer had spread too far. A melon-sized tumor had taken over a side of her face, then traveled throughout her ear canal and throat. It was simply too late.
Though we couldn’t save her, we fought for her with everything we had. The love, prayers, donations, and messages of hope from our incredible community gave us the strength to fight alongside her. We’re grateful for each of you who believed in her and always support us through these difficult cases.
May Belle may not have made it home, but her story doesn’t end here. We will continue to fight for the other Bulldogs who still need us—those waiting for their forever homes, and the ones whose futures are still uncertain. Thank you for being a part of May Belle’s journey, and for standing by us in our mission to give more Bulldogs the love they deserve.
Rest easy, sweet May Belle. You were so loved.
May Belle was originally found as a stray in Central Texas, and thankfully, she’s now in our care.
Tomorrow, she’ll need all your prayers and positive thoughts as two veterinarians work together to remove a softball-sized mass from her face. We don’t yet know exactly what it is—whether it’s a tumor, cancer, or cellulitis—but we’ll have more answers soon.
One thing is certain: May Belle deserves every bit of care and support we can give her. No matter the outcome, she matters, and we are committed to helping her through this journey.
