Mikey is a 2 yr. old male that weights 55;bs

6/4/2015 Update: Mikey has joined Lone Star Bulldog Rescue. Mikey likes it all. He is a bundle of sweetness. We will have more information on Mikey as he joins his foster family later this weekend, but from all indication, he is the just perfect.

6/14/2015 Update: This was Mikey’s first week with us and he had a great first week. After a few days Mikey became more comfortable with our other dogs and even engaged in playtime with them. Which is a HUGE step of progress for him! Seeing Mikey play brings so much joy to our hearts and knowing that in just a short amount of time he is learning to play with others. What we have learned from Mikey is that he loves his cuddles and people love but also loves his space. Mikey is definitely alpha and has a hard time sharing toys and anything he feels that is “his”. If Mikey feels like he is not able to be alpha he will snap at the other dogs but we quickly intervene as we are always there whenever they are all together. We feel that Mikey would do best in a home where he would be the only little guy or if the family did have animals they would need to be passive. Mikey has his moments and spurts of energy just like every little bulldog but once he’s done and ready for his nap he is done and just wants to be left alone! He would do great with a calm family that has no young children. Mikey walks great on a leash and sits on command (treats make it happen a little faster ;). He does have a cyst between one of his toes but we have been soaking it in brown Listerine and water as much as Mikey will allow. He does get anxious and stressed easily so routine and structure are great for him. Anytime we went to the store Mikey wore his bandanna and received so many compliments on how handsome he is and he sure doesn’t mind the attention. Mikey learns very quickly and is one smart little guy. This week Mikey learned that if he barked someone would come to let everyone out to go potty and handle their business. As soon as everyone was back in their crates, Mikey would start barking. This went on for a few times until we caught on what little Mikey’s scheme was! Smart little guy pulled a fast one!;) We absolutely love Mikey and know that he will find his furever home soon!

6/21/2015 Update:Mikey is doing great! He had lots of naps and playtime this week. He is such a character. He enjoys cruising around the backyard doing his own thing and only engaging in playtime with the others when he wants to! We found out this week that Mikey has the wiggles big time when it comes to bath-time, but we got it done and man oh man does he smell good! He doesn’t much care for the trampoline but just likes to lay and stretch out his legs. He is definitely a protector from all shadows and anyone or thing he sees outside. He enjoys walks down the street and does great on a leash. There was one incident this week where Mikey became possessive over a bag of dog food that was brought inside the house. As one of our dogs passed by he snapped at him. We quickly corrected his behavior and within minutes everyone was getting along just fine. Mikey is a wonderful boy and needs guidance, structure, love and know where he falls in the pack. This little boy has made huge strides in his behavior and we couldn’t be more proud of him. We went to the Hollywood Feed McKinney event yesterday (THANK YOU so much for having us!) and WOW were we impressed how well he did with everyone and every dog he came into contact with. He is a little social butterfly but also loves his alone time and finding little hiding spots where he can just relax and snooze away !
