Ruby Jane

Ruby Jane

Rescue can deal you some heartwrenching days and unfortunately, today was one of those. We’re broken, sad and hurting because Ruby Jane, who was surrendered to us just today, had to be assisted to go to the Rainbow Bridge.

From our vet: Euthanasia was the kindest thing we could do for her. Her peripheral circulation had shut down. She was ice cold. Her heart took up the entire chest cavity and she had a mass in right lung field and on mediastinum of heart. Her abdomen was sodistended, she could barely take a breath. Her abdomen was full of blood. This might have been from a mass rupture, possibly the spleen. This also compromised breathing and the ability of the heart to function and transport oxygen. She was in complete heart failure. The external skin problems she had were minor compared to this. She was drowning internally. She is not suffering any longer.

Our thoughts of strength and love go out to the volunteers and the vet staff who helped Ruby Jane They helped her realize she was actually loved in her final hours.
