10/11/26 FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS ~ We have heartbreaking news to share. Sherlock Bones has crossed the Rainbow Bridge.
When we rescued Sherlock Bones, we knew he had endured terrible abuse and trauma in his short life. We hoped that with time, patience and safety, he could begin to heal. Sadly, Sherlock Bones displayed aggression toward people, and despite our efforts, we were unable to safely give him the future we had hoped for. We had to make the heartbreaking decision to let him go.
This is the heartbreaking reality of rescue. We want so desperately to save every dog, undo the damage caused by people and give every Bulldog the happy ending they deserve.
Sometimes, though, the trauma runs deeper than we can overcome, and the kindest decision is also the most painful one.
We cannot change what happened to Sherlock Bones and we mourn the future he never got to experience.
We are forever grateful to Terry and Patti, who rushed to save him when he had nowhere else to turn. We wish his story had ended differently. We wish love could have healed everything.
Sherlock Bones, please rest peacefully. You mattered. You were worth saving. And we are so sorry life failed you.

9/15/26 INTRODUCTION ~ Please welcome Sherlock Bones to our rescue family.
Some things don’t get sugar-coated. Especially when it comes to an animal who has been abused.
Research has found that 71% of pet-owning women entering domestic-violence shelters reported that their abuser had threatened, harmed or killed a family pet.
Sherlock Bones is one of those animals. He was an innocent dog caught in a violent situation, and he paid the price.
Sherlock Bones is only 2 years old, and he has already endured a lifetime of hell.
He spent his life in a crate. He was abused.
And then he was tied to a tree in the heat and left there to die…. yes, someone tied this innocent dog to a tree and left him there in the heat, hoping he would die.
But Sherlock Bones survived.
And that should have been the end of the nightmare. Instead, it became another race against the clock.
When Sherlock Bones didn’t die outside, his owner scheduled him to be euthanized that very same day.
The woman was leaving the situation, and Sherlock Bones wasn’t going with her.
Thankfully, Animal Control was called.
But this small-town Animal Control facility doesn’t have air-conditioned kennels. They knew Sherlock Bones was in danger and somehow convinced his owner to give them until 10 this morning.
They needed someone to come for him.
And our volunteers, Terry and Patti, did.
They made the trip, arriving before 10 and getting Sherlock Bones out of that situation just in time.
His life was saved.
We cannot undo what was done to Sherlock Bones. We cannot give him back the two years he lost. We cannot erase the fear, pain and confusion caused by the people who should have protected him.
But we can change what happens next.
Sherlock Bones no longer has to survive the worst of people. Now he gets to discover the best of them. He gets to know the comfort of a soft bed, the gentleness of a loving hand, a full belly, a kind voice and the simple security of knowing he is safe. And someday, he will have a family who will love him so completely that he will never again have to wonder what tomorrow will bring.
You survived hell, Sherlock Bones. Now let’s show you what love feels like. ❤️
And there are so many more dogs waiting for their own chance to escape a bad situation and start over.
We need foster families. A foster home can be the difference between a dog having nowhere to go and getting the safe landing they desperately need. You don’t have to be a rescue expert. You just have to be willing to open your home, give a dog some patience and love and help us prepare them for their next family.
If you can foster in the Dallas/Fort Worth region, please reach out. With your help, we can save more dogs like Sherlock Bones.
