Tchoupi (Choppie)

Tchoupi (Choppie)

We are saddened to share the loss of alumnus Tchoupi. After being saved from a shelter, Kelly and Larry adopted this sweet kid in 2013 and are now devastated to no longer have him by their sides. He was certainly more than “just a dog.” He was their family member who was truly meant to be. As one of our adoption coordinators, many of you may know Kelly. Just as she was matched with her perfect love, she now helps more dogs find their happily ever afters. Please keep Kelly and Larry in your thoughts.

From Kelly: Yesterday was absolutely one of the hardest days of my life. We said “see you later,” to Tchoupi after discovering he had tumors in his belly and lung. We were ready to fight, but the cancer was too aggressive and took such a toll on his poor body.

Tchoupi was one of a kind. While the beginning of his life was not so great, we did everything in our power to provide him the life he so deserved. From the beginning we clicked and he trusted us, and we were family. We had some challenges, but through love, and a lot of treats, we got through them.

Not only did he provide us with unconditional love and lots of laughter, his gift to us was so much more. Through adopting him, I gained dear friends through Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue. Not only did we rescue him from Lone Star, but I became part of the team that matches families with bulldogs. It’s amazing to me that when I look at those who have sent their love and support over the last two weeks, I see so many who I helped match with their bulldog. I am happy to also call them friends.

We also have our amazing Instagram family. Again, more people I would have never connected with if it weren’t for his antics and stunning good looks.

All of these are connections make up the amazing path Tchoupi started me on.

Thank you, sweet boy, for picking us and for all you’ve done to change me for the better. I will continue what you started with rescue. I will also miss you like crazy every single day.

You are loved beyond measure, always.
