Wittle Wayne

Wittle Wayne

3/14/26 FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS ~ We recently had to say goodbye to a very special little soul.

Foster boy Wittle Wayne fought so hard, but the advanced stages of heartworm disease had taken too great a toll on his tiny body, and breathing had become such a struggle. The kindest gift we could give him was peace.

Though his time with us was far too short, he was loved deeply every single day. He knew the comfort of being cared for. He mattered and he will never be forgotten.

Run free now, little Wayne. No more struggling for breath… just sunshine, open fields and all the love your heart can hold. You were so very loved.

1/13/26 INTRODUCTION ~ Please welcome Wittle Wayne to our rescue family. Wittle Wayne is the kind of Bulldog who takes your breath away, Not because of his size, but because of what he has endured. At just 40 pounds, his body tells a story of profound neglect.

He was found on the side of the road, covered in fleas, his ears raw and dripping with infection and blood. His first lifeline came in the form of a young woman named Natalie, who gently picked him up, bathed him until the fleas were gone, and applied cream to his ears to ease the relentless itching. Natalie cried alongside Wittle Wayne as she witnessed the suffering he had been through… and then she reached out for help.

Wittle Wayne was taken straight to the vet. The rattle in his chest raised immediate concern for pneumonia, and sadly, that fear was confirmed.

Today, Wittle Wayne officially entered rescue’s care. He is currently in the hospital, resting under oxygen and receiving IV antibiotics, fighting for his life.

We are praying that Wittle Wayne survives and that his future holds what his past did not: safety, compassion and a life where he is truly loved and cared for.

1/19/26 UPDATE ~ From foster boy Wittle Wayne: I just wanted everyone to know I had a visitor at the vet’s office on Thursday, and it was so nice! I have some exciting news and also some not-so-exciting news to share.

Exciting news: Everyone believes I am no older than four years old, which was determined by looking at my eyes and my teeth. I found this fascinating. Apparently, our eyes and teeth show noticeable changes as we get older. My eyes still look young, and my teeth do too. Although my hard life may make me appear older, these signs say otherwise!

Not-so-exciting news: I am heartworm positive. Figures. For anyone unfamiliar, heartworm is a condition caused by parasites that can affect a dog’s heart and lungs, but I will be receiving treatment and staying positive. My ears have been medicated and are feeling a lot better. Although I’m still a bit congested, these meds are working wonders, and I am feeling fabulous.

I have a long way to go, but I’m determined to make it by taking one day at a time. I truly appreciate everyone’s encouragement and support. If you just want to send good wishes, I’d love to hear from you! Looking forward to sharing more updates soon.

Thank you all so much for being here for me.
