Ace Ventura

Ace Ventura

When the Chen family applied to be matched with a bulldog, our volunteer, Dianne knew the perfect dog to fit this perfect family. Ace had been in rescue for a little bit and needed a family who was going to be patient and understood that he had lots of love to give but was going to need a little bit of structure.

The Chen family has done just that! He has a wonderful new mom and dad, as well as some fur siblings to keep him company. Happy tails Ace!

Sometimes life happens and some things you just can’t control. That’s the case with me. I had a great mom who loved me every day for the last two years. But there have been some changes and she felt like I would be better off with a family who can spend more time with me.

I love attention. I love to run and play and then play some more. I am super strong and unless you have your feet planted firmly on the ground, you’re going to have a hard time holding on! But I can sit for a treat and take it so softly from your hand.

I have some skin things going on. I am pink in some areas and on the top of my back, I’m missing a little bit of fur. That’s because when I itch, I find somewhere to go to scratch that itch. That area seems super dry sometimes. After I joined rescue today, I went and had a medicated bath. Now that bath felt great. I may have another one tomorrow!

I need a little surgery to help me lose that “loving feeling” also. I made some unwanted advances to the resident Bulldog and let’s say, he was “not in the mood.” After that, I just went and sat in my crate.

So, Bulldog people, stay tuned for more updates about me and my journey through rescue.

1/17/23 Update:  Bath #2 in the books and I’m not sure that’s on my “All Time Favorite Things To Do” list.

I’m very curious. I like to be in the middle of whatever is going on and have explored every room, twice over. I am quite enamored with the resident Bulldog and he’s been kind enough to share his toys with me.

I enjoy going into my crate and taking a nap from time to time. Gotta go get that beauty sleep!

2/21/23 Update:  A week removed from my visit with Dr. Larsen and I’m feeling pretty light “back there,” but it hasn’t seemed to curb my energy at all.

Resting was great, but I’m back to playing tug of war with the resident Bulldog. My “possum” game is at a 10. My vertical jump is still legendary, but I’m working on not showing it off as much.

I really enjoy going for walks and my favorite pastime is following my foster dad from room to room, just in case he needs my help with anything.

My skin is looking a lot better and I’m not scratching nearly as much any more. I think I am putting on a little weight, which is good. I sure was hungry before.

3/7/23 Update:  Well, after a second visit to Dr. Larsen to remove some items that were in my belly that would make a Great White proud, I’m recovering nicely.

My appetite is coming back and I promise (maybe) that I’ll make an honest effort to only eat things that I’m supposed to.

I’ve been cooped up for the past two weeks, so I didn’t hurt myself after my surgery. I finally got a chance to play with foster boy Bruno Miles and the resident Bulldog today. My energy is coming back nicely. I’ll be ready to find my forever home in no time.

3/28/23 Update:  I hope everyone is doing well. I’ve started to calm down a little and I have refrained from eating things that I’m not supposed to. I really enjoy playing with the resident Bulldog, although he doesn’t have the stamina that I do. I’m always down for some tug of war. I’m still very inquisitive and want to go wherever Foster Dad goes. I enjoy rides in the car and I’m getting used to this going for walks stuff. I’m doing a lot better in the kennel at night as well. I’m ready for my furever home.

5/2/23 Update:  What beautiful weather we’ve had the past few days! I’ve enjoyed hanging around outside for short periods of time, relaxing. I’m still up for car rides, regardless of where we are headed, and walks are my favorite. You should see how excited I get once the leash comes out. I’m still full of curiosity and enjoy checking out new things, and people. I’ve spent some time at doggy day care and the other dogs love me. I’m the self-proclaimed king of the party!
