9/30/25 AWESOME ADOPTION UPDATE! From foster momma Dianne: “Every dog has its day,” and Friday’s was Athena Nyx’s!

At 7.5 years old, Athena Nyx and I often wondered if her day would ever come. She wasn’t a young pup anymore. Her playful puppy days were behind her, and she had grown a little “thick” in her middle age. She wasn’t the flashiest dog in the bunch, but to me, she was solid gold.

For five months, Athena Nyx watched other Bulldogs come and go. She welcomed each one with grace and wagging tails, and quietly said goodbye when they left for their forever homes. Through it all, she waited patiently. Never bitter, always hopeful.

On Friday, when I reached for her harness and opened the car door for her, Athena Nyx was stunned… and thrilled. It was finally her turn.

And what a turn it was.

She met Jamie and Mark with bum wags and excitement, and it was clear: they saw what I saw. They saw her beauty. Her gentle soul. Her worth. Out of all the Bulldogs in rescue, they chose her. They told her she still had so many wonderful years ahead, and they were beyond excited to welcome her into their lives.
Athena Nyx didn’t hesitate. She didn’t look back.

On Friday, she went home. It was one of the best days in rescue: Athena Nyx’s adoption day.

INTRODUCTION: At nearly 8 years old, Athena Nyx wasn’t expecting her life to take such a turn. After years with her family, she suddenly found herself in rescue—not because she did anything wrong, but because her humans no longer had the time to give her the love and attention she deserves.

Last night, Athena Nyx quietly wandered through her new surroundings, clearly searching for something familiar—a scent, a voice, a piece of her old world.

While she was graciously welcomed by several friendly Bulldogs, and even seemed to enjoy their company, it was clear she knew she wasn’t home.

Athena Nyx is a gentle, soulful girl who still has so much love to give. She doesn’t want to spend her golden years in rescue. She’s hoping someone out there sees her for who she truly is: a beautiful, wise, and loyal lady who deserves a soft bed, a warm heart, and a place to call her own again.

5/8/25 Update:  I’ve been hard at work helping out in the garden center—and today I woke up sneezing with watery eyes. Clearly, I must be allergic to work!

My foster mom says that out of all the Bulldogs she’s ever fostered, I’m the best of the bunch. I have an amazing personality, and I love absolutely everyone and everything. Even though I’m technically a senior, don’t let that fool you—I’ve got plenty of pep in my step and enjoy a nice little walk.

I’m really hoping there’s someone out there who appreciates the charm of a senior Bulldog, because I just know I’d be the perfect addition to a loving home. If you’re looking for a loyal, fun, and all-around wonderful companion, I might just be your girl!
