Baylee Tera Boyd

Baylee Tera Boyd

Baylee Tera Boyd has been adopted! After 7 long months of Baylee mourning her mom, we started seeing a glimmer of excitement here and there. A spring to her step when the peanut butter cracker wrapper would open. A wiggle of the tail when being talked to. A bark to indicate she would love to share a sandwich or your dinner with you. That’s when we knew that Baylee was comfortable and was never meant to be on anyone else’s couch but ours. She had been home this whole time! Yep! We foster failed!!

As a volunteer with rescue, we encounter all kinds of heart-wrenching stories. There are moments that fill us with frustration, when we learn of dogs who have been discarded like yesterday’s news, and moments that bring tears as we empathize with owners who reluctantly surrender their beloved companions.

Last week, we received a call from West Texas about a Bulldog in desperate need of assistance. The Bulldog, Baylee, had been faithfully by her owner Tera’s side through thick and thin.

Tera had been battling seizures for some time, but recently, they had intensified, causing prolonged blackouts. Baylee remained steadfastly beside her during these episodes, but as Tera’s health deteriorated, caring for Baylee became increasingly difficult.

So, we found a way to squeeze Baylee into our already overflowing program. Plans were swiftly put into motion to transport Baylee to safety, but our anxieties mounted when communication suddenly ceased.

Saturday arrived with still no word. West Texas is big and we had no idea where we were going. This all prompted concerns that something terrible had befallen both Tera and Baylee.

Finally, on Friday, we heard the heartbreaking news: Tera had suffered a seizure and a fall, sustaining head trauma that left her in a medically induced coma. Miraculously, Baylee had been placed with a friend, safe and sound.

Amidst this turmoil, a stroke of luck intervened—literally. A friend of the rescue happened to be in West Texas for work and willingly stepped in to bring Baylee to safety.

And so, we proudly introduce Baylee Tera Boyd to our rescue family—a beautiful senior lady soon to celebrate her 9th birthday. At around 60 pounds, she’s a bundle of lovable fur and sweetness.

Please join us in sending all the prayers, positive vibes and heartfelt hugs to Tera and Baylee as they navigate this challenging chapter. Their story reminds us that in the face of adversity, compassion and community can truly make a difference.
