Big Daddy Ruger

Big Daddy Ruger

2/16/26 AWESOME ADOPTION ALERT! From the foster momma: What an adventure for Big Daddy Ruger!

Big Daddy Ruger hit the road for a long journey to Illinois, with a few fun stops along the way. He even saw more snow than he’d ever experienced before!

As the car got closer to his new home, I, along with fellow rescue volunteer Christina, started to tear up at the thought of saying goodbye to this energetic, mischievous, fetch-loving Bulldog. But Big Daddy Ruger quickly put an end to any tears.

He marched confidently into the house, took a long drink from his fancy elevated water bowl, and then got right to work… emptying the toy basket one toy at a time. He could hardly contain his excitement as he explored his new toys, tested out his new bed and admired that wonderful water bowl once again.

At one point, he glanced back at me as if to say, “I’m home now. You can go.” 🤪

That may have stung just a little…. after all, I had rearranged my daily schedule for six weeks to make sure he had plenty of time to burn off his boundless energy. HA! But somehow, they always know when they’re home.

Enjoy your amazing new life with your wonderful family, Big Daddy Ruger. I will dry my tears with a little ice cream… and then open my heart to my next foster dog.

1/18/26 INTRODUCTION ~ Please welcome Big Daddy Ruger to our rescue family! From foster momma Lari: Big Daddy Ruger was loved and in a good home, but he is 1000% puppy. He has more energy than a toddler after a sugar rush and about ten times the strength, which proved to be more than his family could safely manage.

The good news? Big Daddy Ruger already has a family waiting for him in Illinois and will be heading north the first week of February. His new family is a former adopter with two older sons who will be the perfect match to help channel his boundless energy into healthy play… and away from dining room chairs and couches!

Big things are ahead for this big boy, and we can’t wait to see him enjoy his new life!
