INTRODUCTION: When Blake ended up at the local shelter it was an exciting time for him. Finally, he had other dogs and people to play with. He quickly became the shelter favorite and everyone doted on him.
Everyone knew that his family would soon come for him. After all he was young, handsome and with an amazing personality someone was surely missing him. But as the days passed, he started to think maybe no one was missing him. Other than having 2 cherry eyes and needing neutered he looked amazing. His fur was soft and overall, he looked good. Other than having his nails trimmed he didn’t need anything but to be scheduled for surgery.
Blake is around 1 year old, and weights 39 pounds and has an excess of energy.
His perfect family would like a bulldog that acts like the energizer bunny, doesn’t have an off switch but will crawl up in your lap and sit perfectly still if you let him. One last thing, he loves to lick. He will lick you from head to toe. Now who doesn’t love bulldog kisses!
7/3/25 UPDATE: Blake Corbin writes: I’m staying at a super fun foster home right now… but what I really want is a family to call my own!
8/13/25 UPDATE ~ From the foster momma: We picked up Blake Corbin and let’s just say — the first two weeks were… lively! He’s still very much a puppy (about 1 to 1.5 years old), full of energy and curiosity. Everything was exciting, and he zoomed around the house like he had places to be. No off switch. 😅
But since then, Blake Corbin has really started to settle in. He’s learning his manners, following the rules (most of the time), and is finally acting like a gentleman in training. Of course, he still has some typical puppy moments, but he’s come a long way.
House training? We’re nearly there! He’s only had a couple of crate accidents, and none in the house. He knows exactly where the back door is and runs to it when he needs out. We’re working on teaching him to ring the bells hanging on the doorknob — stay tuned!
At night, Blake Corbin sleeps soundly in his crate, just like our two resident Bulldogs. He’s usually the first to wake up while the older girls enjoy their beauty sleep. 😂
This boy has a healthy appetite and loves his food — he’s been enjoying salmon and potato dry food with a little pumpkin and veggies mixed in. Treats? Yes, please! He takes them gently, sitting nicely like the good boy he’s becoming.
We’re still working on a few puppy habits, like not nibbling on my feet or tugging at my clothes when he wants to play. He’s a quick learner, though, and really just wants to please.
Blake Corbin gets along great with Abby, and the two of them have nightly play sessions. He loves our tiny grand-dog (all 7 lbs. of him!) and plays gently. As for our resident cat — well, cranky Annie started a squabble early on, so Blake Corbin now wants nothing to do with her. We use a soft muzzle for her when they’re together, just to keep the peace.
Now here’s something impressive: Blake Corbin actually fetches! We got one of those tennis ball launchers, and he runs after the ball and brings it right back. First Bulldog I’ve ever had who didn’t just give me a side-eye and walk off!
He’s also a fan of water — whether it’s lounging in the kiddie pool or standing calmly for a bath. No complaints from this guy.
Blake has recently discovered the joy of couch naps and is quickly learning the art of relaxation. He follows our daily routine, fits right in with the pack and is getting better at just chilling during the day.
He’s the sweetest thing, always close by, always ready to go wherever you go. Oh, and did I mention he loves car rides?
We’re so proud of this boy and how far he’s come in just a few short weeks. Stay tuned for more updates — Blake Corbin is just getting started! 💛
