Blu Jay
2/8/26 AWESOME ADOPTION ALERT! From the foster pops: After months of heartworm treatment and strict crate rest, Blu Jay let us know he was finally ready for his new family. 💙
His incredibly patient adopters waited until he completed his recovery, then made the long drive all the way from Iowa to bring him home. The moment they arrived, Blu Jay knew exactly who they were and couldn’t contain his happiness. It was truly love at first sight for everyone.
Happy trails, sweet Blu Jay. We’re so proud of you and so grateful to your amazing family for waiting for you.

9/23/25 INTRODUCTION: Please welcome Blu Jay to our rescue family! From volunteer Dianne: Every Bulldog has a story. And Blu Jay is no exception.
During last year’s ice storm, Blu Jay was found wandering alone, slipping across frozen sidewalks. He was confused, cold and clearly out of place. That’s when Lauren stepped in. She scooped him up and went door to door asking, “Is this your Bulldog?”
She even knocked on a house with a Bulldog statue out front. Surely, she thought, this must be home. But the answer was no.
Thinking he might have been stolen and dumped, Lauren flooded social media with his photos, hoping someone would recognize this fabulous boy. But no one ever came forward.
Still, Lauren wasn’t giving up. She took Blu Jay to be neutered, got him fully vaccinated and continued searching for his family, believing someone had to be missing this special dog.
Days turned into weeks, then months. No claims. No leads. But Blu Jay had already found love… with Lauren.
When she brought him to us yesterday, it took three trips to unload all the things she had bought just for him. And when it came time to say goodbye… it nearly broke her. I had to step out of the room.
If you’re wondering why she didn’t keep him… it’s not for lack of love. Lauren already has five dogs, and like we adore Bulldogs, she has her own breed close to her heart. She gave Blu Jay everything she could… and now it’s our turn.

10/5/25 UPDATE: From the foster momma: Blu Jay is doing great in his foster home! He gets along wonderfully with the seven other dogs in the household, is fully potty trained, and keeps everyone smiling with his goofy, lovable personality. This handsome boy, with one blue eye and one warm brown eye, will celebrate his 2nd birthday at the end of October.
In November, Blu Jay will begin heartworm treatment and will need some quiet time during his crate rest. Once he’s recovered, he’ll be ready to find a home of his very own!
10/19/25 UPDATE ~ From the foster momma: Blu Jay is doing beautifully at his foster home. And guess what? He has GOOD NEWS BREWIN’! ☕️
This sweet boy has found his family! 🎉 The best part? They’re already smitten and totally willing to wait while he goes through heartworm treatment over the next few months. And we know Blu Jay is 100% worth the wait.
In the meantime, please keep this handsome guy in your thoughts as he tackles treatment like a champ. We can’t wait to see him healthy, happy, and headed home for good!
