Buttercup Grace has found her new home and has a new name: she is now named Waffle! She has two fur siblings to share her new life with, Lola and Ceaser (a Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue alumnus).
I wasn’t quite sure if Buttercup was ready, but I took her for a visit and she was perfect! She did great on her leash, she was not scared of Denise and Thomas, and she was the perfect lady with the pups. She was just perfect!
Foster mom could not be more proud for this girl. Almost five months ago, Buttercup came into Mays Manor shy of people and last week she met strangers and loved them.
Bulldog friends, I declared yesterday, “Fabulous Friday!” I was rescued and my friend and I are safe.
If we could talk, we would tell you our story. One thing is for certain: we would have died in the heat had the woman who found us left us outside. Bailey Faith and I were found in they country, just wandering around.
Our new friend took us to the local shelter and they scanned us for possible microchips. Nope. No such luck.
Then we saw ourselves on posters for lost dogs. We were on Facebook, Instagram and if our new friend is on Twitter, I bet she tweeted us too! I know everyone saw our pictures all over social media. We nearly broke the internet with all those shares.
Every day, she thought someone would surely recognize us. But, when it was all said and done, everyone decided we must have been dumped. Dumped in Texas in the heat. Who could do that?
I’m only about a year old, so I have a long life to live. I’m so glad it didn’t end when we were stranded way out in the country.
Regrettably, Buttercup tested positive for heartworms and will have to undergo treatment.
8/31/23 Update: Buttercup is doing great. She is sweet, smart and handling heartworm treatment like a champ. Just a couple more weeks and then she won’t have to hear her foster mom saying, “No playing! No running! Calm down!”
9/27/23 Update: Buttercup Grace is free from those nasty heartworms and is able to be a true puppy! She’s a perfect balance between a puppy and a couch potato. It’s really her favorite thing to just sit with a human! She’s a bit slow to trust, but once she warms up, it’s over…. she will steal your heart!
