CadBarry (now Cedric)

CadBarry (now Cedric)

Saturday was the best day for CadBarry, now Cedric. He was adopted by an amazing family – he has a mom, dad, brother, and there’s even a cat at home!

Once Cedric got home, he promptly taught his mom to give him treats. He bribed her by showing her that he could sit (something he never did for his foster family).

It’s obvious how happy Cedric is and how wonderful his family is, so there have been no more tears from foster mom. I cannot wait to hear more about Cedric’s adventures! Happy adoption day, Cedric!

Hi rescue family!  My name is CadBarry (Barry for short) and I’m joining rescue at just 5 months old. I have an umbilical hernia, a mystery bump on my head, and you can count all of my ribs.

When I joined my foster family yesterday I was so scared I would barely walk, but I found the food bowl, a ball, and some fun friends, so I think this place might be okay until I find my forever family.  Hoppy Easter!

4/5/24 Update:  CadBarry is slowly learning to explore his surroundings and get out of his comfort zone. He enjoys car rides – we even took him on a trip to Lowe’s yesterday. The doggy stroller could barely contain his excitement!

We are working on potty training and walking on a leash. I’m happy to report he’s already gained a little weight (there’s more weight gain needed, but Barry doesn’t mind). He loves to cuddle and hates when he’s alone in his crate. CadBarry gets along wonderfully with the other dogs in the house, but is a bit too timid to play with them just yet.

4/12/24 Update:  Here’s a quick CadBarry pup-date.

He has been working hard to check off the to-do list.

help with laundry

help with dishes

play with toys

play with other dogs

I’ve also included a side-by-side to show his bump. I think the bump on his head is decreasing and I think you can see that he’s put on weight just by looking at his face.

4/19/24 Update:  CadBarry is loving life! He has learned how to go in and out of the doggy door. He’s not fully potty trained yet, but he tries his best to potty outside.

He no longer freezes while on a leash (as long as he walks alongside another four-legged friend) and he’s slowing down (just a tiny bit) while eating so he doesn’t choke on his food.

CadBarry’s weight continues to increase while his timidness continues to decrease. I think his paws have doubled in size.

5/1/24 Update:  CadBarry has quickly left his “Timid Puppy Era” and entered into his “Curious Tiny Terror Who Gets Into EVERYTHING Era.”

He jumps on the couch, chews on toes, chomps on blankets, sneaks into the garage, knows exactly when it’s time to eat, and gives the sweetest puppy dog face when he knows he’s done something wrong.

CadBarry is getting so much better at going potty outside unless it’s raining. He’s a super snuggler once he’s gotten all of his energy out.

CadBarry has been matched with a wonderful family. We’re just waiting on another vet visit before he can join them.

5/16/23 Update:   Today is the day! CadBarry has the infamous vet visit to lose that lovin’ feeling. His adoption is right around the corner, so this will be my last update for him.

He is such a sweet puppy and he cannot wait to join his forever family this weekend. It was a joy to watch him grow! He went from timid to rambunctious in the blink of an eye.

There may have been something in my eye when he hopped in the Bulldog Jeep, but he was all smiles. Seeing him so happy helps me remember what a positive impact rescue has on the lives of so many bulldogs. Thank you for letting us be part of his rescue story.
