It was a wonderful day, for a wonderful connection. Cecil found his forever family yesterday and we couldn’t be happier for him.
Cecil, your foster family we miss you immensely, but knowing you will be living your best life filled with love and adventure makes it all worthwhile.
Who would have thought the day I left home to walk around town that no one would miss me or coming looking for me. And you can see by my eyes there was no way I could find my way back home.
When animal control picked me up what a relief it was. I was hot and tired. Walking around when it was over 100* was no joking matter.
The vet who I saw and who helped me cool off said she thought I was around 1 year old. I still have those sharp puppy teeth! You know the teeth that feel like razors. She noted on my paper work that I had some skin problems, missing some hair here and there. I have been enjoying medicated bathes with special shampoo and this morning when I hopped in the rescue wagon I smelled like heaven. My hair feels like silk now. I weighted myself this morning and I weight 29lbs. Man, I need to start eating more. I need to bulk up my body.
I am so excited to get my eyes fixed and I have heard there will be a little surgery on the other end. And before you know it, I will find a fabulous family that makes sure I never get lost again. My name is Cecil Blake, and I am 1 year old.
9/6/22 Update: I wanted to let you know that my first few weeks of foster life have been fantastic!
There are tons of toys to chew on and lots of other Bulldogs to play with. Everyone else in the house has instantly become my best friend, whether they know it or not!
Luckily for me, I’m in a house with two other 1-year-old Bulldogs, and one 2-year-old Bulldog, so that suits my energy level just fine! We have tug-o-war battles, wrestling matches, chewing competitions… the works!
I really like my foster sister, Angie Diane. She seems to really like me as well. Sometimes we get into trouble, like when when our foster mom busted us trying to get off Angie’s cast.
I love snuggling and my foster mom and dad love that I’m submissive to all of the other dogs, and seem to have a knack for not playing too rough.
I’m still getting the hang of this whole “house training” thing. I don’t mind going outside to do my business, but there are loud noises out there sometimes (like dog barks and thunder), and they scare me. However, with lots of praise (and treats), I’m sure I can learn. But for now, I sometimes still forget the whole reason I went outside in the first place. It is fun to sniff, though…
I’m also still learning that my crate is my safe place. I’m a social guy, and I like being with my people and my fur-friends at all times. However, I’m adapting as well as a puppy can, and my foster mom and dad think I’m just about the sweetest guy they’ve ever met.
As long as you’re OK with my energy level, it’s hard to imagine a household where I wouldn’t fit in perfectly. I’ll check in again soon. It’s play time again!
9/19/22 Update: Cecil has been enjoying the cooler weather this week. He loves sitting in the fresh air with his toys. We also learned that he loves to play fetch. He has met a few cats and doesn’t seem interested in them, unless they want to play with him. He was very gentle with them.
He did make a new friend this week. He was very smitten with the tall, dreamy poodle that stayed with us for a few days.
Once you meet Cecil, you’ll be smitten too. He’s ready for his furever family!
9/23/22 Update: Cecil Blake is a gentle, playful puppy and A snuggle bandit. He is happiest at your side, or by your feet or curled up in your lap. He’s also happy to hear that he’ll be attending this Sunday’s Bulldog Bonanza at Hollywood Feed in Allen.
10/7/22 Update: Cecil Blake (left) pondering what life will be like when he finds his forever family. This gentle little boy, with an old soul and youthful curiosity, is so full of love. He’s irresistible!
10/28/22 Update: Hello, my name is Cecil, and I’m hoping to be your new best friend!
My interests include any and all toys, napping next to you, and playing with other fur friends. I need to be part of a pack, and would do best with another dog in the house to show me the ropes. I’m extremely laid-back for a one-year-old, but I still need to play!
My only real dislike is being alone. I came from the streets, and I get scared of noises when there’s no one around to assure me that everything is alright. It’s a big, scary world out there, and I’m just a baby.
I should also mention that I’m potty pad trained, only weigh about 35lbs, and shouldn’t get too much bigger. That makes me the perfect apartment bulldog!
Are you my new forever friend? Look deep into my eyes, and I bet you can’t resist…
