I went on a trip with my foster family and when we came back, we went to the last Bulldog Bonanza. So many people there knew me ~ I was famous and felt all of the love from everyone!
I met a wonderful couple and had a sleepover with them. I loved them so much and they loved me, but they realized that I was a little more than they could handle with their busy work schedules and travel demands.
I was a bit sad when I returned back to my foster family the next day, but Foster Mom assured me that there would be another family who would be a good fit for me.
She was right! About a week later, Foster Mom told me to get ready because we were going to meet another family.
The family watched me get out of the car and they said that from that moment, they could tell I was a perfect Bulldog.
We went inside and I met the resident fur dog. He’s a Dalmatian and has really long legs. But you know, I love all dogs, so I was already ready to play with him!
We visited for a little while, talked, played and gave some Bulldog loves. I wasn’t sure why Foster Mom and Foster Dad had me leave with them. I liked it there. They have a doggy door, a big backyard and I heard them say that they are retired and home all day! I could only imagine how wonderful that would be to have someone to love on all day long, every day.
Well, before we got home, Foster Mom got a text saying that the family loved me and wanted to make their home mine! We made a plan for a couple of days later to pack my things and make the big move.
I love my new family and I’m doing great! I not only worked my way into my new mom and dad’s hearts, but I also worked my way into a comfy spot in their bed.
There are still so many Bulldogs, like me, who are looking for their new families. Get your application in and be ready to be matched to the perfect furbaby for you and your home.
Many thanks to our volunteer Tina who dropped everything to save Cinco at a local shelter today.
Estimated to be about 2 years old and 59 pounds, Cinco was dropped off at the shelter after being found as a stray. His neck wounds are likely from having an embedded collar and the medical staff noted he has large abscesses in multiple areas.
We’re now working to get him the vet care he needs and we’d appreciate your support. Help us give Cinco the second chance at life he deserves.
5/4/23 Update: Quick update on our newest arrival, Cinco: First, thank you so much to those of you who have donated to this sweet boy’s care! We’re so grateful to have supporters like you.
Second, Cinco is in the great hands of Dr. Larsen now. We’ll do all we can to ensure this boy is feeling and looking better soon. The doc shared that the wounds appear to be from dog bites. The wounds have since festered and now we’re facing myiasus. This even turned the doc’s stomach, especially considering the size of what she found. Let’s just say, if you’re squeamish, you might as well not Google it.
Please keep this boy in your thoughts as we work to make him healthy and happy again. We’ll help him forget his nasty past.
5/8/23 Update: Stop what you’re doing and look at this sweetness…. It’s CINCO! He’s getting hydrotherapy to help with his healing. Tomorrow, he’ll go under anesthesia so Dr.Larsen can better address the wounds around his neck. Please continue to keep him in your thoughts.
5/12/23 Update: YOUR DONATIONS AT WORK! Thanks to your support, Cinco is getting the vet care he needs.
While he was under anesthesia today, the vet staff neutered him, as well as clipped and scrubbed all the bite wounds covering his body. They removed the dead skin from his neck and cleaned the area (we’ll spare you the pics… ugh). That region will be left open to allow for ongoing hydrotherapy and cleaning over the next week. Then, the staff will reevaluate the area and, depending on the wound’s response, may possibly close it.
Warning: gross info incoming……..
The maggots mentioned in a previous post actually helped clean up some of Cinco’s nasty tissue and the tissue underneath looks good. Thankfully, all those disgusting buggers are gone now too.
The great news? Heather at the vet’s office says he’s very sweet and has been wiggling his butt for them. He’s likely already feeling much better than just four days ago.
5/15/23 Update: He is doing really well and his wounds are healing up nicely. We will try to close the one on his neck next week, as long as it stays looking good. He is eating and drinking well, too. He is a very happy, sweet and handsome boy who will be a love bug once he’s 100 percent!
5/18/23 Update: We were able to give foster boy Cinco his special gifts from the Fur Angel Blessing Blanketeers today!
If you’re not familiar, Fur Angel Blessing Blanketeers make blankets for sick or injured dogs and cats. They post a photo of the pet on their page and ask for prayers. A member then offers to make their blanket and posts it for prayers, blessings, healing and comfort before it is sent to the pet.
We’re so grateful that Cinco has so many kind supporters! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
5/30/23 Update: Cinco had his drain tube and neuter sutures removed today. He still has sutures in the side of his neck for another week, but he’s feeling fantabulous! He’s able to free roam now and will be having entropion surgery soon.
6/26/23 Update: Cinco joined us early Friday evening. We can really tell that he’s quickly settling in and doing great!
Cinco is so loving! Today, he came and sat in foster dad’s lap to get lots of pets and give kisses.
He’s full of energy and loves all the toys. He tries to get the other dogs to play with him, but he hasn’t had a whole lot of luck yet. He did get foster girl Abby Allison to play tug of war with the rope. He’s a big talker!
He’s already learned how to use the doggy door! He’s so smart. We are working on his basic commands, making sure he goes outside for all of his business, and how to settle down a little bit when playing. He is really good with the small kiddos.
He goes in his kennel with no problems, and so far, has slept silently through the night. Not even the slightest snores! LOL
Cinco needs an active family with lots of energy. He would love to have another young dog to play with. Maybe you’re the family for this sweet and loving lil’ guy!
