Dewey and Riley Shane were adopted together by Steve and Rob! It was love at first sight at our meet-and-greet. Steve and Rob decided to take the dynamic duo, which is exactly what I had hoped because they had become such good friends. Thank you, Steve and Rob, for making this as easy as possible and for my stuffed Bulldog.
Bulldog people it’s me Dewey and I have joined rescue. I am 10 months old and if I have to say so I am fabulous.
I wish you could see my collar. My name is embroidered on it with my phone number. Not that I am going to get lost, but just in case I do. You can’t be too careful. I had the best Mom. She had me since I was a baby. We were going to be together forever. She loved me a lot and she was devastated when she realized she had made the wrong choice in choosing a puppy. She thought bulldog meant slow, calm and collected.
As I started to grow and get more active, she realized I was anything but. It didn’t take long of her throwing the ball 100 times to realize I needed more than her stamina allowed. I need an active family with a lot of energy. I love to walk. I love to chase a ball and I love other dogs. Bigger kids who, love to play would be great.
I am going to have my cherry eye fixed and then I will be looking for a family. I have already been neutered. So people if you like active, cute as can be and a 10-month-old bouncing bulldog, look no farther, that would be me!
4/16/23 Update: He is the best – so sweet and so smart!
He met my crew, Elle Mae, Stella and Otis, and I could tell he probably never had friends before. He was a little nervous, but respectful, as he learned how to join the pack. After two days, he figured out the routine. We’ve been going out on a leash to keep him safe around about the pool.
Dewey would like to tell you all about these fascinating fluffy things we call CATS. He says they are best treated with a side eye or they may come beat you up…. LOL.
Dewey is great in his crate. He learned if I say “treat,” his friends run to their crates so he does too.
This morning, he learned that if I say “out of the kitchen,” he needs to go get on his bed.
Oh and the food routine … he loves his food, as they all do! We had a family brunch today and he was a little nervous meeting the family at first, but warmed right up. He’s also met the horses and the chickens and was really good.
4/21/23 Update: Well, Dewey has been at the A5 Dogergartin for a whole week so it is time for his first progress report!
Academic Achievements: Dewey is an attentive well behaved student who is a little shy, doesn’t like a commotion or loud noises, is definitely not the class clown or class bully (that’s reserved for Stella the Stinker). He learns routines quickly like sit, down or do you want a treat will mean to go to your kennel.
Follows Directions: It is apparent Dewey was an only dog, he is learning to listen to his instructor and has become much better about not jumping on people when he is excited. He is also learning to follow directions from his class mates the cats about playground rules and behaviors. He is very good with his house training, no accidents to date!
Social Skills: Dewey plays very well with his friends, he is gentle and respectful and has learned to follow the packs directions. Dewey can be a little timid and definitely is the instigator of any tomfoolery (reserved for Stella) However, Dewey doesn’t play well with the Roomba or the hand held vacuum at present… we are working with him on those interactions along with his class mates (pic included his friends cheered him on to go touch it)
Athletics: Having longer legs than his classmates, Dewey excels at high jump after water from the garden hose. Dewey has recently found his love for wrestling with both the water hose and the towel used for drying him . Dewey would excel at Tug O War but Stella would probably object.
Nap Time: Dewey does very well in his crate, he is willing to go in anytime and will take long naps without any difficulty, he does like to be an early riser around 6:30am to get the day’s activities underway.
Additional Comments: Dewey is a sweet young man that will grow into a true gentleman. Darling Dewey enjoys social interactions and doesn’t appear to have any bad habits. Dewey does like an active life style so younger friends and/or an active family environment.
5/2/23 Update: Dewey is the best boy! He has really settled in, loves a routine and his new friends have really taught him how to play.
This week, I have taken him to meet the ducks, chickens and horses, Dewey is very non-reactive and just ignores them, unlike his cousin Stella who would delight in murdering a few of those feathered pests.
We are also working on puppy manners and working off the leash to come when called. Dewey is very good with sit and down, but thinks a treat will ensue shortly after.
Dewey will make a great dog for anyone who is active and has an active furry friend for him. He would do great around other creatures/livestock.
6/21/23 Update: Sorry I didn’t check in last week. It’s been a busy summer. There’s a lot of hanging with my people in the pool!
For those who were worried that I looked anxious on my floaty, I have new pictures. I like hanging with my new bestie Victoria. I’m also sporting a new lifejacket and it even has a shark fin!
My foster family tells may I’m the best. I’m a happy, healthy puppy with a great “I will do anything to please” attitude.
7/7/23 Update: It has been a busy 4th of July. I’ve been hanging in the pool my foster parents. They named my floaty: The SSS Dewey. That is where I love to hang out. After I get out, I go to the bushes around the house and get a back scratch followed by some sun bathing.
I am the best boy looking for an active furever family. I love other dogs, cats, chickens, etc.
7/21/23 Update: My foster mom and dad are bringing me and my best buddy and fellow foster boy, Riley Shane, to the Bulldog Bonanza at K-9 Culture on Saturday. I can’t wait! Everyone will love Riley and me ~ we are the sweetest boys.
I’ve really started to grow up and blossom. I’ve gained confidence, love to play with my friends, sleep in my crate and I’m even less food-obsessed…. but who doesn’t still love a good treat? See you Saturday!
