Sunday was an unforgettable day for sweet Diesel Edward, as he finally met his new fur siblings, Maker and Tori, and went home with his family!
He’s already living his best life, especially loving snuggles in the big bed with mom and dad. This was the perfect match for him, and I’m certain his life will be filled with love, fun, and joy.
His new dad works from home, which will make Diesel Edward’s heart soar because he loves being close to his people at all times.
A huge thank you to everyone in rescue who helped make this dream come true for this deserving boy with so much love to give.
Happy trails, my little gremlin! My heart is full knowing you’re finally where you were always meant to be—home!
This time, it was a family member who made the first move. The woman who contacted us told us she knew without a doubt that her brother’s Bulldog needed help.
The dog was living a miserable life either outside or confined to the garage. The only relief the dog found was lying on the ground where the air conditioner dripped water.
His ears are infected, his nose rope is infected, his skin and tail pocket are in bad shape, and his eyes are a mess.
Yesterday, Diesel Edward hitched a ride halfway and ended up at the vet clinic where our volunteer Mary works. She welcomed Diesel Edward with open arms. Despite all his pain, she described him as the sweetest Bulldog.
At about 2 two years old, Diesel Edward has already endured a tough life. He’s a perfect example of the saying, “Everyone wants a bulldog, but not everyone can care for one.” Somewhere along the way, his health issues became too overwhelming, and the initial excitement faded, leaving Diesel Edward to pay the price.
But brighter days are ahead for this sweet boy as he begins to heal and transform into the Bulldog he was meant to be.
10/25/24 Update: Diesel Edward just left the vet clinic and is thrilled to begin his new chapter! After some time of poking and prodding, the results are in: for the most part, he’s healthy!
He does have an ear and skin infection, likely caused by fleas, which explains some of his missing fur. Additionally, his nose rope and tail pocket are infected. Diesel Edward will need medicated baths three times a week and is on a 14-day course of antibiotics. The good news? He tested negative for heartworms!
If you’re looking to share your life with a lovable small Bulldog, Diesel might be the perfect match for you!
11/8/24 Update: Diesel Edward is thriving in his foster home and is quickly becoming a favorite! His foster mom has learned that taking pictures of a handsome black dog in a dimly lit house is a bit of a challenge, but she’s hoping to get him outside soon for a proper photo session when the sun decides to make an appearance.
In the meantime, Diesel Edward’s skin is already looking so much better, and he absolutely loves his medicated baths—especially the ten minutes of soothing massage that come with them! What’s not to love?
Diesel Edward has charmed every furry resident in the house, and they all get along wonderfully. He’s discovered the magic of chew toys and is a big fan. While he’s settled in well, he does miss his best buddy, foster boy Perry Wrinkle who came for a visit. Those two were inseparable and played so well together, but Diesel Edward’s resilience shines through, and he’s making new friends. He even gets along with the resident cat, who thinks she’s a dog herself, so Diesel Edward is all about it.
A true companion, Diesel Edward is rarely far from his foster mom’s side and seems to prefer the company of women. He’s a playful little guy with a lot of energy and can get a bit rough when he’s excited, but he’s still just a puppy learning the ropes. He’s working on not jumping up on people—progress is slow, but he’s getting there. With a bit of training, Diesel Edward will soon master this skill. He’s a smart and stunning dog who will be a perfect fit for a family without small children—he’s got enough speed to run them over in the blink of an eye (bless his speedy little heart!).
Diesel Edward has made great strides with house training, especially while he had Perry Wrinkle by his side to keep him on track. Now that Perry’s gone, he’s learning to adapt again, though he’s a bit confused by the occasional accident from the other dog, alumna Jessie Lynn. Still, Diesel Edward does great when he’s let outside regularly, and with a little more patience, he’ll soon be fully house-trained. He’d do best in a home with a secure backyard where he can run and play freely—his foster mom is cautious about letting him loose on the leash because there’s a pool that Diesel Edward hasn’t quite learned to avoid (and it’s cold!).
Diesel Edward will also need a little “chop chop” done at the vet, and after that, he’ll be ready to find his next home. Once he does, be prepared to fall in love—this boy is guaranteed to steal your heart in an instant!
11/15/24 Update: This little ball of happiness is doing well in his foster home! He gets along with everyone and is especially excited today because foster boy Perry Wrinkle is coming to visit. It’s going to be a wild weekend with these two bundles of joy!
Diesel Edward is still working on a few things like not jumping up, potty training, resisting the urge to chew on window sills, and sleeping in a little later (he’s an early riser!). Progress is slow, but we’re confident it’ll come with time.
His skin is looking so much better, which means it’s almost time to schedule his neuter with the vet and get him one step closer to finding his next home.
Diesel Edward is the sweetest, most affectionate little guy you could meet. He’s a total Velcro buddy, always by your side—just look down, and there he is! He’s becoming more playful and goofy every day, and honestly, he’s just too cute for words!
Diesel Edward would thrive in a home with older kids and other dogs because he really doesn’t like being alone. He deserves a loving family, and I can’t wait to help make that happen for him.
12/6/24 Update: FM snuck up on a napping Diesel to show you his cute wake up routine! It is so easy to love this cute little boy and his big personality!
