Dug

Dug

12/7/25 AWESOME ADOPTION ALERT! From the foster momma: Dug the Bulldog had spent six whole weeks at A5, a place that smelled like fresh blankets, warm meals and hope.

We doted on him, and Jeff, who everyone joked had a magic touch, made sure Dug finally put on those well-needed pounds. Day by day, Dug’s ribs softened under healthy weight, his eyes grew brighter, and his tail learned to wiggle again without hesitation.

But Dug didn’t know that something even better was waiting for him.

Yesterday was his big meet-and-greet day.

When Chase pulled up in his truck, Ruger, the big fur brother-to-be, hopped out first, tail high, nose ready, body wiggling in excitement.

Dug hesitated for half a second… then the two locked eyes, sniffed hello and took off across the yard as if they’d been waiting their whole lives to find each other.

They ran.

They played

Ruger shared his toys (well, most of them) and Dug showed off his surprisingly fast zoomies. Chase watched them, arms folded, trying to act like he was making a logical, careful decision… but the smile on his face gave him away.

“This little guy,” Chase said finally, “is going to make one heck of a little brother for Ruger.”

And that was that.

When it was time to go, Dug didn’t look back with worry or confusion. No, Dug looked at the open door of Chase’s truck, hopped right into the front seat like he had called shotgun his whole life, turned around and gave one last Bulldoggy wave goodbye with his paw and a snort.

He was off to his new home, his real home.

With Chase.

With Ruger.

With love, food, zoomies and the promise of never having to wonder where he belonged ever again.

Dug the Bulldog was finally home. 🐾

11/3/25 INTRODUCTION: Please welcome Dug to our rescue family! He writes: I just joined rescue and — oh boy! — it makes my tiny tail wiggle!

I am 1-year-old and I have two very special eyes: one big beautiful blue eye and one warm brown eye. People say they make me look extra sweet (and maybe a little curious, which is true because I am!).

I came to rescue because I am a puppy who does puppy things… chew, bounce and get distracted by… SQUIRREL! 🐿️

But since arriving at A5, I have been such a good boy. I play nicely with the other dogs, and I like the cats too (though if they run, I might just think they’re inviting me to play chase!).

I am doing great with my house training, I’m crate trained and I sleep like a good boy at night. I’m athletic and love to move, explore and wiggle my little tail when I’m happy, which is a lot!

I might be a little shy when you first meet me, but once I know you’re my person, I’ll be your loyal, goofy friend forever. My dream home is one filled with love, playtime and maybe a few squeaky toys.

Because when I feel loved… it makes my tiny tail wiggle, my brown eye shine and my blue eye sparkle!
