Ellie Mae Maple

Ellie Mae Maple

Wow, what a rush! She checked into Chez Maison Ménard BBnB on April 25 and met her adoptive family at Bar 2909 on April 28.

The family was so smitten that they followed up immediately.

Then, on May 3, she was gone, adopted by a great family!

Dang, she was such a gem that we wish she could have hung around a bit longer.

As veteran foster parents, we believe that the Bulldog chooses the adoptive family. And she chose well!

Today, we said our adieus, shared a kiss goodbye, and marveled as Ellie began her furever life.

To quote Miss Ellie, “I did not hesitate when we left, but at the final kiss, I assured you, my foster peeps, that while I was finally in my furever home, you would always be my heart’s inspiration.”

This is what her heart sang as she departed for her new home.

Away I drove off with a piece of your heart

As my adoptive family gave me a new start

But I heard you exclaim, with a tear in your eye

Fare thee well, dear Ellie, but never goodbye

Don’t stop believing!

I may be a senior, but I wanted y’all to know that age is just a number. I don’t look a day over 5!

I will be honest: I didn’t see rescue coming, but I guess I understand. My family just didn’t have the time or the space for me anymore. I saw the moving boxes in the house. Plus, my momma has been sick and my daddy has been gone a lot more. I thought all that was temporary and that I would stay with my family forever, but sometimes, life has some curve balls.

No ill feelings here. I know I’m a sweet magnolia with some sweet curves of my own. I know I’ll find a great family. I’m just a Southern girl at heart who is looking for a settee to lounge on. I want a family to love on me like the graceful debutante that I am.

I can’t wait to meet Dr. Larsen. I’m certain she will agree that I am a beautiful belle. Y’all, keep an eye out for me, I will be available for adoption real soon.

3/29/24 Update:  Oh my goodness… what a week it has been!

I went to see Dr. Larsen and she told me I needed surgery right away to remove a gigantic bladder stone. She gave me a full work up while I was there. I got a mani/pedi and some wonderful serums for my ears and tail. She even improved my smile by removing some rotten teeth.

Can I tell you that I feel like a queen now? I feel so wonderful inside and out, and I just can’t stop smiling about it. I’m supposed to be resting, but this is the best I have felt in ages. I want everyone to know that nothing can slow down this Southern gal!

Y’all remember: age is just a number and I’m a spring chicken at heart. Now y’all, don’t forget to submit your applications. You may be matched to me and believe me when I say I’m quite a catch!

Ellie Mae Maple loves to hear her name. When you talk to her, she looks deep into your soul with her beautiful eyes and tilts her head. Swoon.

4/19/24 Update:  Some of you couldn’t believe how old I was when you met me at the Pizza Paw-ty. Well, the secret to aging well and looking this good is lots of love and running around with younger pups.

My favorite pastime is playing with my foster brothers, whether it’s 2-year-old Louie Van Wrinkle or my newest foster brother Dutton Dallas, who turns 1 soon. Those boys are no match for me! I can outplay all those young pups because I have what you call “experience.” But ssshhhhhhh….  don’t go telling everyone my secrets to youth.

I am looking for a family to call my own, and would love to have a fur brother or sister to keep me young.

5/1/24 Update:  On Wednesday, I checked into Chez Maison Ménard BBnB.

The culinary and hospitality departments treated me to a Bulldog Happy Hour gala. Who knew that we Bulldogs could dine on protein, fruits, pastry, even pizza and mac ‘n’ cheese?  Can you spell promising start?

I spit out the strawberries, bananas and cantaloupe, but I’m willing to try again, if they offer watermelon and ice cream! I did like the chicken and cheese though.

I slept in the guest suite the first night, with a she-shed, a second comfy bed, and a private dining nook.

On Thursday, I demonstrated how age equals character development and improvement. Maybe some of you Baby Boomers can relate.

I jumped up on the sofa with Foster Mom Thursday night, and made Foster Dad jealous. Maybe I am a mama’s girl, but Foster Dad resolves to compete.

On Friday night, I slept on the living room sofa, but Foster Dad was not happy. He wanted me in the Doggy Dormitory bed, preferably with him. Well, I let him win that discussion so I sprawled out on the queen bed. As you see, I am the new queen.

I cannot believe the delicacy and deliciousness of the food here. All meals come with a warmed finishing broth of dietary supplements such as amino fatty acids, pumpkin with local honey and pumpkin and 1/8 cup of protein.

Today, l will wow the folks at the Bulldog Bonanza at Bar 2909 in Fort Worth, just as I did at our Pizza Paw-ty at Campisi’s in Rockwall a few weeks ago. My date, my new foster dad, vows that I will take over the event. I will exercise modesty.

My spirit craves love, to give and receive. I welcome all fans and I’m excited to meet potential adopters.
