11/19/25 AWESOME ADOPTION ALERT! From the foster momma: Sunday evening, 11/16/2025, was a bittersweet moment for this foster mom. Fergus Sun’s new family, the Hendersons, made an incredibly long drive from Iowa, bringing along their 10-year-old Bulldog, Lily, to finally meet the much-talked-about Fergus Sun.
With a strong background in Bulldog care and a new mom who has over 20 years of experience as a vet tech, I knew from the start that Fergus Sun would be in excellent hands.
The family was excited and instantly charmed, especially by his size, since sweet Lily is quite the petite girl. Fergus Sun warmed up to them quickly. After some human meet-and-greet time, it was time for the doggy introductions. The expected “who are you?” sniff session took place, followed by a relaxed exploration of the backyard.
Then the group moved to the driveway so Fergus Sun could check out life inside Lily’s posh limo (also known as their Excursion). With a little coaxing, Fergus Sun allowed himself to be gently lifted inside, where he enjoyed a drink of water and a snack while hanging out with his soon-to-be family.
We returned inside to finish the paperwork, and after one final smooch from Nana, it was officially time for Fergus Sun to begin his journey home. Back into the limo he went, heading toward a brand-new life in Iowa.
The Hendersons made it home safely and have begun introducing Fergus Sun to his new home, a luxurious space above the family’s restaurant. And rumor has it… if he aces his orientation, he may even be promoted to Assistant Manager. 😉
Cheers to Fergus Sun and his new happily-ever-after!

5/28/25 INTRODUCTION: Please welcome Fergus Sun to our rescue family! It was a truly heartbreaking day when Fergus Sun had to leave the only home he had ever known. His beloved dad, who was 82, recently passed away in the hospital — and Fergus Sun was his whole world.
Now 6 years old, Fergus Sun will adjust to life in rescue with a heart full of love and a little extra weight to match — every inch of him as sweet and gentle as they come. ![]()

He’s currently being evaluated for a growth on his side, which our veterinary team will address this week. Once he’s all cleared, Fergus Sun will be ready to find a new family who will be a perfect match for him. This boy has known deep love, and he deserves to feel it again. ![]()
If you have room in your heart and home, Fergus Sun will gladly fill both.
7/18/25 UPDATE from volunteer Nicole: He has a face full of wrinkles and a heart full of potential. With his signature Bulldog side-eye and deeply soulful gaze, Fergus Sun doesn’t just look at you—he claims you. Once you get “the look,” you’re his person for life.
He’s still getting used to the idea of what a home really means, but so far, he’s a big fan—soft beds, kind humans, and cozy routines are quickly becoming his favorites. Fergus Sun is incredibly loyal, surprisingly smart, and has already learned that chest-bopping his people isn’t the best way to say “hello” (though he did think it was fun at first).
10/4/25 UDPATE: We’re working to match Fergus Sun with the best family for him! From his foster momma: You know how every foster parent secretly (or not-so-secretly) thinks their foster dog is the best Bulldog ever? Well… you might want to get in line behind Fergus Sun. ![]()

10/5/25 UPDATE: We’re working to match Fergus Sun with the best family for him! From his foster momma: Fergus Sun has a heart as big as his jowls. I haven’t been able to test him with other dogs yet, but he met five new people and a toddler last week and was gentle, calm and affectionate with everyone. He is doing great telling me when he needs out by standing at the door and his accident record remains a perfect zero.
Car rides? Fergus Sun is a big fan. He hops right in the moment the door opens and settles in like he’s going on a cross country trip and then…. refuses to get out. Every ride could last a little longer, please.
He’s a gentleman on the leash on short morning walks and his afternoon jaunt to the mailbox.
He crates well although he has earned free roaming privileges in the den/kitchen when I need to leave. He is always happy for my return and gives a wiggly butt welcome. He sleeps all night and has fallen in to a good routine.
Whoever adopts Fergus Sun will be blessed with this sweet fella.

10/14/25 UPDATE ~ We’re working to match Fergus Sun to the right family for him! From his foster momma: I’m completely smitten with this sweet boy! Fergus Sun and I have our routine down pat, and he’s quickly getting the swing of things. He has the most expressive head tilt whenever I ask if he’s hungry, wants to go for a walk or if he’s up for a car ride. It’s adorable!
He’s great on walks (I keep them short), and even better in the car. So much so that he refuses to get out when we arrive! He almost made it into PetSmart, but not quite. 😄
Fergus Sun understands “outside potty” and always listens. He’ll go into a crate if needed, though I haven’t used one in over a week. He’s been dealing with some mild allergies, so his little muzzle is a bit pink, but we’re working on it. Let’s just say he’s not a big fan of face care, but he’s a good sport.
I’m hoping to bring him to the 2025 Bull-O-Ween to see how he does in a busier setting with other dogs. What I can say with confidence: Fergus Sun is a gentle soul with just the right amount of playfulness. He’s a great eater, fully house-trained, walks and rides beautifully, and loves sleeping under the sheets (not a bed hog at all!).
He would thrive as an only dog in a calm home, but given his sweet, steady nature, I wouldn’t be surprised if he did well in a busier household too. I just haven’t had the chance to test that yet.
He really is a special guy. 💛
