Griffey

Griffey

12/1/25 AWESOME ADOPTION ALERT! From the foster momma: Every now and then, you get to witness something profound… something amazing you will never forget. That’s exactly what happened when Griffey first met his new family, the Behrens. It was as if I was watching soulmates unite. From the very first moment, we knew he was exactly where he was meant to be.

Griffey came from a wonderful home and a dad who loved him dearly. Unfortunately, due to health issues, his dad had to make the heartbreaking decision to surrender his beloved Griffey. The transition was difficult for Griffey… until Laura, Michael, and their daughter came into his life.

You can see from the photos that the love between them is enormous. Watching Griffey find his new beginning was a blessing. Something I will truly never forget.

11/15/25 INTRODUCTION: Please welcome Griffey to our rescue family!

At just 4 years old, Griffey has known nothing but love. He has been by his dad Gregg’s side since he was a puppy… a loyal companion to a 20-year Army veteran who understands commitment and responsibility better than most. Gregg takes both seriously, especially when it comes to his Bulldogs.

With no family nearby, not in town, not even anywhere in Texas, Gregg recently received a serious medical diagnosis that forced him to face an impossible question:

Who will take care of Griffey when I can’t?

And even more frightening…

Who would know if Griffey was home alone?

With hospital stays ahead that may last weeks or even months, Gregg made the heartbreaking but selfless decision to let Griffey go to rescue, the only choice that guaranteed his boy would be safe, loved and never alone. Through tears, he said goodbye to his beloved companion, doing what he believed was best for Griffey’s future.

Griffey has been trained as a service dog, though some of that training may have faded since Gregg hadn’t yet needed to rely on him. What hasn’t faded is Griffey’s gentle spirit and steady heart. He has clearly been cherished, and it shows in every soft moment with him.

His birthday is April 1st, and he’ll soon be turning 5 years old, beginning this next chapter surrounded by people who care deeply about his future, just like his dad always did.

We need more foster families 🤍🐾

Stories like Griffey’s remind us how important foster homes are. The more foster families we have in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, the more Bulldogs we can step in to save, dogs just like Griffey who need a safe place to land.

If you’ve ever considered fostering, now is truly the time.

A spare room, a warm lap, or a quiet corner of your home can change a dog’s entire life… and help them take the first step toward their forever family.

If you’d like to join us as a foster parent and become part of our lifesaving work, we would be honored to welcome you. Message us to learn more.
