Harper Rose

Harper Rose

Well, all good things must come to an end. At least, that’s what Foster Dad told me yesterday. I was also told that this was going to be a happy ending for me, though.

I woke up as normal yesterday, ate a big breakfast then settled down for my much-needed after breakfast nap.

Then I saw Foster Dad putting my stuff in a bag. My first thought was, “He knows I’m not going anywhere until we find me a furever home, right?”

After a few more minutes of watching Foster Dad getting things in the right place, as he said, I heard a knock. I ran up to the door, ready to take on whoever walked in.

To my surprise, a very nice woman was there. I was curious. Who was she? She was very nice, gave me pats and butt scratches. I really liked how nice she was to me.

Then I heard her say, “Harper, I’d love for you to move in with me and my family!”

I was confused at first, then I realized she was asking to be my furever mum and I was about to have a furever family that included a furever dad and two siblings.

I was skeptical at first and didn’t want to go with her. Then I felt the butt scratches again and that’s all it took. What can I say? She knew the right spot to scratch.

It was at that moment that I knew my time searching for a furever family was over!

I walked up to Foster Dad and gave him a very big hug. I told him to let Foster Mum know that I was sad I didn’t have a chance to say goodbye to her (she’s out of town), but I would never forget either one of them.

I marched out to my chariot to take me away to my new home and with a tear in my eye, I knew this was what was meant to be.

Today, I found rescue and I think it was the best day of my life!

My story began when I was found wandering around a nice neighborhood. I was found by a family who just knew they could track down my family. After all, someone was surely missing me.

We did some house-to-house looking, and we drove around looking for someone who was looking for me, and we posted a lot on social media. I was just about famous. But at the end of the day, it seemed no one was looking for me.

My new friends took me to the local shelter because they just knew someone was going to come there looking for me. And there I waited. And waited and waited. Was I waiting for my family to find me… all while my family was glad I was gone? It seemed so.

But have no fear, the shelter contacted rescue and before long, I was picked up.

Today, there was a Bulldog event and I got to go! And the sweetest thing happened to me ~ a child hugged me, told me I was beautiful and said my name should be “Harper Rose.” Harper Rose…. I love that.

My nails are really long. Really, really long. Both of my eyes are a mess. I can’t see a thing, with the one cherry eye and my other eye is cloudy and dry. I think I’m about 3 years old, so I’m not an old gal ~ just a neglected gal.

I met a lot of Bulldogs today and I loved them all. I loved the attention from everyone and everyone promised me that my next home would be my last home. No more wandering around for me.

3/14/23 Update:  Harper Rose moved into her foster home this week and she has been a dream dog.

Harper is super chill, loves everyone she meets and has had zero accidents. One thing she doesn’t love is kennels. She will bark until she is let out.

Poor Harper is recovering from surgery to help resolve a long-untreated cherry eye. Her eye looks pretty bad right now, but she is letting her foster parents (most of the time) put her eye drops in to help her heal. We know she will be looking good as new in no time.

Harper was such a good girl at the Pizza Paw-ty at Campisi’s yesterday. She met lots of new friends and got to try some pizza!

5/2/23 Update:  Harper Rose had a visit with the eye specialist this week. We still have some work to do to get her eyes up to scratch, but Miss Harper is up for it.

Harper has been an absolute dream to foster. She is sweet, kind and just goes with the flow. This week, she even got the grumpy old resident male to play with her.

She loves to be with her people. Everywhere you go, Harper follows. She also loves hanging out with the resident Bulldogs.

Once Harper is ready, she will be looking for a family who is willing to keep up with her eye drop routine for her dry eye.
